I just bought a 95 ser and need to make it into a fun street car.I want to go with a t25 or t28 set up.I have worked in the automotive field for a long time and understand about automotive theory. My question is when I see "complete det swaps"for sale do they generaly come with wire harness and ecu?do i need to reprogram mine and use stk wire harness?how different are these motor set ups and what do i need to expect when tackeling this project?I already have an ACT clutch so that is done.and finaly............what is a good price on one of these????
Thanks for all the help

There are 17 billion pages of info on this subject in the SE-R mailing list archives. :) I'd suggest going to SE-R.net (http://www.se-r.net) first, there's a getting started section, there's a section on doing DET swaps and there's a link to the archives.
To quickly answer a couple things: You don't need a harness. Use your stock one. That's right, no re-wiring. Buy a JWT ECU programmed for a DET. that's the best possible engine management you can have, unless you really like AFCs and screwing with things yourself, which is a lot harder and you don't get consistant results.
The DET is the same motor as your stock SR20DE in the SE-R with the exception of the turbo, the plumbing and intercooler and a couple internal goodies like piston coolers and lower compression (8.5:1 vs. 9.5:1) pistons.
For price, it depends on which DET you get. The Bluebird DET (T25 turbo) and the GTiR DET (T28 turbo) will both work in your car, the GTiR motor is usually more expensive, and it also has more potential. Expect to pay anywhere from $900 to $2500 depending on which motor, what kind of shape it's in, mileage, etc.

No, it wasn't. The JWT ECU is far easier and more consistant than any AFC setup. That's a fact, not an opinion. You plug it in and you're done. If you like screwing with it yourself, by all means go for it. But the JWT ECU is a far easier and consistant solution, and that's what I recommend.
