jlpearl 05-16-2006, 08:24 AM Hey guys, I live like 10 minutes from a dyno guy that my dad knows pretty well. He is willing to arrange a dyno day for us on a Saturday in 4-6 weeks. People have mentioned they would be interested in this so I figured I would organize it. The dyno shop is Performance Dyno in Concord, NH http://www.performance-dyno.com/index.html. I would be willing to organize a BBQ at the dyno shop too. Let me know if you are interested. ~Josh

jlpearl 05-16-2006, 03:26 PM I am trying to get a rough idea for the number of people before the final price is nailed down, but a recent event he did had three pulls and lunch for $50. I should be able to get it close to that.
jazzguy 05-16-2006, 04:49 PM I'd be down for that.

jlpearl 05-17-2006, 08:24 AM No official day yet guys. Would a weekend in July be good? I will check my schedule and the schedule of the dyno owner. I may have blown my motor at the convention so I might need a month to get that back up and running.
jazzguy 05-17-2006, 09:51 AM not July 21-23. Maine Forest Rally.....:)

jlpearl 05-18-2006, 10:08 PM OK guys Ill take all considerations in and see what date will be good. I have an autocross school at NHIS with SCCNH on July 29 so I doubt that will be the day. Also, I need to get my head gasket done ASAP. Anyone have any experience with this? I got a good garage and a shitload of tools, but not sure if I should just ship the car to a garage. Its a stock BBdet so nothing special. Ill be in touch guys. ~Josh
CivicsSuck 05-18-2006, 10:19 PM June or July?? I just realized we have mixed dates here.
June has 3, 10, 17, and 24
July has 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29

Get a VE head gasket from Mossy,vc gasket kit from napa/autozone,some zip ties and some coolant. If I can find some time I can come up and show you how to do it. Busy at work latly. I'd say its @ 6 hr job at least and it can be done with the motor in the car.
You sure its not the rings?

JohnnyFriend 05-19-2006, 04:00 AM how far is that from ny?

probably about 5 hours no traffic. You are 3.5 hours from boston mang.
jlpearl 05-19-2006, 10:09 AM Thanks Mike! Do you think it is easy to do? Does it require removing the timing chain and cam gears, or is it possible to "slip" them out somehow? I will investiage my Haynes manual and Nissan shop manuals tonight and tomorrow to get an idea of what this entails. I am not sure if I should just pay a mechanic to do it so I dont mess up.
CivicsSuck 05-19-2006, 12:30 PM Only thing I say is get a vc gasket from Nissan, not too bad of price, but it will not leak.
JohnnyFriend 05-19-2006, 01:33 PM GGGRRR I wanted to go but that's a little far for me--my car's not 100%,I don't know what she will do on a long trip.

You can do it without messing with the timing chain. Just think to yourself cam swap.. Zip tie the chain to the gears and hold it up so it doesn’t slack and all should be fine.
Edit: Josh it’s a doable job. Not easy and quick but its defiantly doable. All you need is time and a good understanding of how it’s done.
CivicsSuck: The OEM gasket if fine but... If you get the one from autozone or Napa.. (I forget?) You get the all the gaskets, nuts, washers and even the rubber pieces that go under the nuts and washers. Well worth it IMHO.. Its only @ $10-15 more than the dealership price.
