Alright guys, I need and want an exhaust that is really quiet, like something close to stock, and was wondering what components I would need in order to make a custom exhaust on a b13/'91-'94 Se-r. I thought about doing a cat-back from Greddy, but they are so expensive. I really love the sound of the Greddy exhaust too, so any help in my dillema of choosing a decent cat-back, custom or not, let me know please. If possible also I need to know part numbers, websites or any other information places that I might need. Just trying to weigh all of my options.
Thanks. Sterling.

Depends what you consider "custom."
Basically, all a "custom" exhaust is just a muffler and some bent pipes.
Since you have B13, I would suggest purchasing the Pacesetter Cat-back exhaust, it is 2.25" mandrel bent piping and I believe around $130-$150. Simply use the cat-back piping and sell the muffler on eBay or in the classifieds. The muffler is too ricey and too loud for most tastes. Get your own quieter muffler, perhaps a Dynamax.
You can purchase the Pacesetter from www.nopi.com. I did this on my '91 SE-R a few years ago and found it to be very economical.

oooo....websites are bountiful. most of it is going to be what do you like and what do you not like (sound, muffler types, tips, etc). i would go with 2.5 mandrel (dont know how to spell it) piping for na. you can get a random cat that size too (if you want it). im probably not much help....but you need to help us a little more...what type of sound are you looking for? shape? i hope i helped a little.

Honestly, for an N/A SR20 2.25" diameter piping is the way to go. 2.5" diameter reduces low end HP without much applicable gain up top.
EDIT: 2.5" I think is good if you have the C-series cams.

I'm going with the courtesy b-pipe, 2.5" mandrel bent stainless steel, and i'll be attaching the nismo axle back section to it..going to run me over $400, but i'm hoping for quality sound.

storm, i was just going off what i have heard. sterling, storm probably knows more about this than i do. honestly, naji said way back when that he thought an exhaust should be the last mod done on th sr20s. either size should be fine i would think (2.25 or 2.5).
if you plan on keeping it for a while, play it safe. go 2.25.

Wow! Talk about a fast response from people. I am probably going to go with 2.25" or even 2" because I don't want to loose low-end power. I really want a muffler like the Greddy or even better yet a Greddy! :D Anyhoo..... I am looking for a sound that is very close to the Greddy SP cat-back setup if that can help anyone. I plan on doing a cat-back just so I can it's customized and I have an idea or two for some flange placements that a Pacesetter can't give me. I also plan on installing a Catco high flow cat. just because my current cat has 220K on it and still climbing. I think it is time to replace it. I mainly need to know what kind of bends and how many of each if I am going to be doing this. Thanks again.

depending on how quiet you want the car, you might want to invest in a thrush glasspack (~$15-20 from www.summitracing.com). i have one on my car with 2.25" piping (from the pacesetter catback) and a dynomax muffler with a borla tip. i installed the glasspack and swapped the pacesetter muffler for the dynomax one at the same time, so i'm not sure how effective the glasspack has been in terms of noise reduction. what i do know is that my car growls pretty good under WOT and is fairly quiet otherwise. the only thing that is slightly unbearable is the drone i get at 75 mph. hope this info helps!
