i just went and had my car detailed today, im talking the works: wash, buff, wax, vacume, shampoo, etc. so they run my car through the car wash and when it comes out my rims are all dinged up and they claim that it was there when i brought it in. any ways they ran it through the wash for like the third time and there are more dings. again they are claiming that they did not do it and that there is rust on the scratches in the rims. rims are Driftz Design 17x7 506GM Venom... which has a chome plated stainless steel lip. I have never known stainless steel to rust in under two months... to rust at all for that matter. so here i am with two extremly messed up rims. i have a letter from the place i bought the rims from stating what kind of damage was done to it. and the so called rust came off with a bit of wheel cleaner. So any ideas on how i could get them to pay up for new rims?

You ran it through a mechanical wash and now your complaining about damage to your car?....and you ran it through more than once!? :ugh: Hmmm, do you not like your car or something. Car washes are for lazy soccer moms who don't give a crap about their vehicles. Lesson #1. Always hand wash and wax your car. Sorry dood, but unless you have before and after photos for the judge, you're pretty much hosed.

hank, he is saying that the detail shop ran his car through the wash twice.
honestly, i would never bring my car to a detail place if it isnt a hands only wash (most real detail places wont use machine anyway). on another note, i myself plan to get my car detailed inside and out. how much did all that cost you? [/threadjack]

My NX was not even six months old when I took it through a touch free wash for the last time. Big groove carved in the moulded mud flap at the rear. Manager said wasn't his shop - I took him through with his tape measure in front of other customers and showed him which touchfree piece touched my car. He paid for the part. Argued about labour, but eventually paid it.
A person I work with had the rims on the new G35 coupe trashed just like you describe. Took them a year to get them painted and paid for by the shop. Never the same, though.
Hard lessons learned. As others have said, unless it is hand done, it's not worth the money.
