I was wondering if any of you out there know what I need in order to lower my car. (other then springs of course) My mechanic told me that it takes a lot of work and would require changing a lot of parts. He told me it would cost around $1000. I need answers because it seems he's trying to screw me again.

$1000 !!!
all you need is good shocks and lowering springs
u use all the stuff u already have on the car.. might want to change the bumpstops though
get a fsm and check it out, you can do it yourself :)

1st- Get a new Mechanic
2nd- All you really need is springs and struts, possible camberplates if you go really low. It is a very easy thing to do yourself as long as you have air tools. Also you will need to borrow some spring compressors from AutoZone. I sure there are lots of write ups if you look in the right places.

I would definitely recommend camber plates with any lowered setup. When I had my car lowered before it was lowered 1.5 inches without camber plates and I ruined a set of tires and it also aided in wearing out my hub bearings.
Do it right and buy camber plates.

well, in all honesty it depends on how you want your car to perform. if it's just looks you're after, then yes, it won't be nearly as expensive. if you want a car that can be lowered and still ride great or even be auto-xed then you'll wanna fork over the $$ for the quality stuff. hide sight being 20/20, i wished i had saved up for the AGX/GC combo from the beginning. instead i put Eibach prokits on my stock struts. that was the look i wanted but the ride was unbearable after 8 months. i'm rambling on here, but the point is this: what do you want? looks or performance?

IF you are doing it your self, you need a good lubricant to prevent breaking any bolts or tools like I did, and definately a spring compressor so you can remove the strut mount from the strut assembly.
