I believe its the exhaust pipe from the cat to the muffler.

too small can hurt upper end power by increasing backpressure.
Too large can reduce lower end power by reducing some tuning effect.

The stock B-pipe is fine... The backpressure is in the muffler and the cat. My 170 whp NA car runs a *stock* b-pipe with a straight through muffler. I only have 2.5 psi of exhaust backpressure (measured upstream of the cat).

so if you run a T pipe at 2.25 are we loosing power??

On a B13, the stock mid pipe is fine, but on a B14, its way too small.

a stock cat is 2 3/8. the stock b pipe gets down to 1 5/8 in places.

how come people brag about gains with the courtesy b pipe and nobody mentions any gains with the random tech cat
