Newb question- yes i searched.

i've swapped out two valve covers on my b14 and i clean them up the best i can with simplegreen but it doesnt come spotless, still had some oil deposits inside of it can this clog oil paths and or any damage? when i swapped the other valve cover on after the previous one, the motor still had a bright golden broze tone to it looked perfect, but my question is can the build up inside the v/c cause damage inside the motor when swapped out to a different one? wont after time the build up run down into the oil pan or burn off? any opinions would be great

after you clean them with simple green, I usually go at it with some carb cleaner, or tb cleaner as well... spray the crap out of it and bling bling baby.

But it won't hurt your car as long as there are no solid pieces that are evident. try some carb cleaner and make sure you let it dry.. see if that helps...

Aircraft cleener ... you might want to try this stuff from Simple Green .. I have yet to try it though I usually use the stuff sold at Wall Mart in an aeresol can prior to polishing a valve cover. It works great because it removes everything! http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/09-00809.php
