Just a little tid bit.. Greg Amy in his 91 Nissan nx2000 set the track record at NHIS for ITA @ 1:15.661 !! Wooho! Nice Job Greg! :biggthump I'm sure more people will chime in with more details when they get back home ;)
A little crappy quality celly pic of his lead going into turn 3 at NHIS. All three of the races he ran in looked about the same :D he just walked the competition  !!

Funny you ask. :(
Here is a short video of the start of saturdays race: I call it "So you want a be a race car driver."

As you can see I didn't have as good of a weekend.
Greg did kick ass though. He routed the entire field. I wish I would have made it to turn one it may have been interesting.
iMagnusX 05-29-2006, 11:05 PM hmm, it looks like that golf tapped you out or something. I mean you were at the 1/2 car length point so... oh well. How serious is it?

And then Joe said "Aww FUDGE! Except he didn't say "Aww fudge," he said THE word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the "F-dash-dash-dash" word! "
As I have in the past under similar circumstances....
Joe, I'm hoping that the damage isn't too severe, but damn, you had a great jump on that start.
NX2KTPR 05-30-2006, 12:22 AM Oh, and Greg, SLOW DOWN before you get us an inlet restrictor!
BTW great job, I just wish ImprovedTouring.com wasn't down with a virus right now so we could hear all the buzz in the community.

Yes I said that word several times. I edited it out for family viewing.
As far as damage the biggest concern is the rear of the car. If you watch the video closely just as I am about stopped and straight heading down track there is a thump. Well that last thump was a crx which was turn sideways and caught the right side of the rear bumper and pushed the frame rail down and the quarter panel forward. besides that there are dents and dings but all is easy stuff to fix.
Greg Amy 05-30-2006, 07:28 AM I saw Phil at LRP yesterday and described the damage...he did note that it looks like he has a free crew guy for life. I mentioned I'd volunteer to help out too is it got you on the track sooner. Now you just gotta get it to his shop and ask him nicely...
It was a raw deal for Joe all around (partially self-inflicted - NOTE I SAID PARTIALLY) but the damage is definitely "repairable" for a race car; it'll be fine but never be perfect. Joe can then decide if he wants to build a new one next year.
As for me, the results speak for themselves. It was a "perfect storm" of a weekend where everything came together well. Hell, I literally only had to touch the car for tire pressures and check fluids and clean the windshield; all other work was nervous energy and basic checks. I really can't ask for more than that.

Don't worry about restrictors. We've already gone through "the process" that the ITAC/CRB put in place, and unless these guys figure I'm making more ponies than I am (or cheating) there's no real possibility of that happening. I think what we're seeing now is a 5-year program that's finally coming to fruition, coupled to the fact that other high-end programs (Serra, Lee Chee) are out for the time being. The proof is in the pudding, and if I do the same thing at the ARRC in November then I can see it; but this is the same car that finished fourth there in 2005 with the exception of wheels and shocks.
More to write-up when I catch up with life and reality... - Greg
Russell 05-30-2006, 07:45 AM Congrats again Greg chalk up another win for the FWD Nissans. Joe, sorry to hear about the damage, glad you are ok and will be back to race again!
Joe will be back racing before anyone knows it ;) The damage isn't to bad.. :ugh:

nx2kracer 05-30-2006, 11:35 AM If Greg keeps doing so well it will even be harder to find NX's and SE-R's as the ITA drivers start buying them up:) Congrats on the race.
That sucks joe!

The guys doesnt have a rear view mirror, you were sorta in his blind spot but if he had a mirror he would have seen you. The dumb thing is that he kept on drilling down after the intial contact. That sucks. But at least you are ok. Let me tell you, its better to have a broken car than a broken body.
