1. Car does not go anywhere and you smell clutch.

2. When car is under load, RPM's go up but car is barely moving.

Or you could have my symptom (sp) and not be able to churp second gear (on b13 wheels with 185/60/14 goodyears)

I had a performance shop that worked on Nissan's and BMW tell me to put my car in third gear and try and accelerate. If the engine doesn't die then the clutch is slipping and is on it way out. I tried this on a clutch that I had abused severely and my engine did not die. I wouldn't want to do this on a clutch that is good because this test while accurate is in itself abusive.

if the clutch "slips" yeah it will start to do it in 5 gear and then as it gets worse lower and lower until you aint got nothing left.
