hey guys, just bought a 68 510 and want to convert it to a all wheel drive monster. i want to go with a jdm pulsar motor and tranny. One problem. I kinda leaped before i looked. I have no idea where to look for info on doing such a thing. I have gotten quite a good response before on the one question i asked about my spec-v before it got wrecked. NEVER BUY A CAR FROM MIDWAY NISSAN IN ARIZONA. anyways if any of you guys no of a good website or two hit me up and i would appreciate it.

I have never heard of it being done before. How much money do you have? Its gonna cost a lot to do a project such as this. One thing to consider, is that you will have to mount the engine transversely, and not longitudally. I would imagne the tranny will interfere with the steering system. Your linkage will have to be interesting too, as the transmission tunnel will be hollow, and the tranny will not be in the engine bay. You might be able to use the stock rear end. The front you will have to covert over to pulsar axels, hubs, etc. It will be a sweet ride when you are done, but are you sure you are up for it??
I am in the market for a 510 myself, could you PM with the details of what condition your 510 was in, and how much it cost? Thanks.

those are two off the top of my head, if you go there and click on their links pages.. there is a assload of pages, pretty much anything you can think of has been done AND documented (although not always beautifully)
Call Chris at sr20development(1.619.698.8726.. same as 1.619.69.turbo), tell him David in Vancouver told you to ask him about Mario and 510's...
Mario (I believe) owns a shop and does *alot* of custom work for 510s, kits for dets etc...
later :)

i'll definately give that guy a call. the all wheel drive idea is mainly just an idea, I was just curious as to if it's possible really. I'm hoping it is. If it turns out to be too much of a hassle I'll probably look for a det motor from a s13 or something. I think that's right not that sure though. i also don't plan on getting this thing done any time soon. I'll probably sit on it for a while to gather more ideas. And i've seen sr20development in action. They ran a 13.4 in a gutted classic with a vvl motor that only had a header and a home made cai. I was very impressed.

RWD SR20DET has been done, so there is some info out there for you to gander at. Mario has done some great SR20DET installs, but he charges a pretty penny, and is backed up from what I here.
Here is a good site for the SR20DET swap: SR20DET install (http://goichimaru.com)
