just unplug the clutch switch under the dash at the top of the clutch pedal

You need to put a jumper in the plug after you disconnect it from the pedal. Just take a paperclip, cut off one of the bends, stick it in the plug, wrap it up well with electrical tape, and tie wrap it to something so it doesn't dangle arond under the dash.

By the way, if your car has cruise control, there will be two switches on the clutch pedal. I think the one for the starter is the top one, but don't hold me to it.

Chris, what?! Are you serious? GHETTO!

Cut the plug off and tie the two ends together. Shrink wrap it and zip tie it up out of the way.

Oh come on now Blair, it doesn't need to be MilSpec. I've done this to every one of my B13's going back to 1992.

Lol. Consider the B13, simple. Consider a paperclip, simple. :biggthump

One of those many things that never even occurred to me. Thx guys. I prefer Chris' paperclip fix - VERY easy to undo if for some unknown reason you might actually want to SELL your beloved car - to someone who NEEDS the clutch switch.

The clutch switch is the one closer to the firewall. I like my safety switch working. That way the car won't jump forward if I hit the ignition switch with the car in gear.

Hm. Reasonable argument. Perhaps not be a bad idea to keep it wired for an old senile like me to REMIND me to make sure the thing's out of gear when I start. Esp. with this spunky ve - it usually takes a few turns of the starter, but sometimes it's NOW.

Think of it as Darwinism at its' finest. You guys should be smart enough to check for neutral before hitting the starter. For me, the ability to lean into the car and start it without having to sit in the seat is great, especially when tinkering with the engine.

And ANOTHER thing..... Y'all don't have to worry about your car running away, because I KNOW you keep your parking brake set and adjusted properly anyway. :P

With my car, the motor doesn't need tinkering, it's the rest of the car that needs work. :(

Always left in neutral with, yes, properly adjusted park brake set firm. BUT I'm an old geezer. It's like, when ya get out of the car, HOLD the keys in your hand and LOOK at them while closing your (presumably) already locked door. A good friend REALLY absentmined professor type taught me that one, last time I ever locked myself out of a car. You young bucks with still decently operating memories can unplug the switch. 'Tis a pain in the roister to jump in the car every time, ***, must admit. Eric, yup. NEVER ending, it seems. DAMN what a motor, *** :biggthump

I'm pretty sure the top one is cruise control, cause I took that one out and now my cruise wont work

Why would you remove it? That switch adjusts the cluch pedal too.

The real reason you won't do it is because you probably take a cat nap when you sit down to start the car.

As far as looking at your keys before closing the door.... from the book Sniglets by Rich Hall.

ignosecond

1) The moment of clarity just after a boneheaded act, but just before the point of no return, when you realize you've just done something stupid.

In the brief ignosecond after the car door left Jeremy's hand, he realized he'd left his keys in the ignition.

Wow now all I need is to use the word 3x and its mine :D

My B12 had this feature, and this is on my list now. I'll do it with a paper clip to honor Chriscar.
Jer I have a memory like yours. Always have I get it from my mother. We both spend our lives carrying a stack of sticky notes around. Its really sad.
