I have tee'd off my FPR nipple for too many things already.
1. Boost Gauge
2. Wastegate
3. FPR (Duh)
4. BOV
Well tomorrow I am adding 2 more things via my Greddy Profec B I am installing.
1. Reference for the controller
2. Control Box
So Ray Kawski mentioned this idea on the list last week about using the Power Brake Booster line. My father tells me today that he has heard in the past that is the one line you do NOT ever want to tap from for safety concerns.
My first question, is this true about the brake booster tapping taboo?
There is another vacuum line going down to the charcoal canister. Can I tap that one? Or is there a danger that fuel vapors will damage one of these devices I am tapping it for? (I hope not) Am I missing another possible hose to tap from? (because I couldn't find any others.) I do not want to drill and tap my plenum.
Please respond tonight or as soon as possible as I am going to install it tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

Figure anything out Thomas? I could look at my FSM...see if there is a map of the vacume diagrams...althought you might wanna try to find a B14 FSM...as it may have diffrent vacume lines...I woldn't see any problem getting vacume off the brake booster, anouther idea would be to get a can maybe a chicken broth can and drill a small hole in it, then put a rubber gromet in it, then you can tap off the can whenever you want vacume...get what I'm sayin? Anyway...let me know if you need me to look at that diagram...

After looking over the intake plenum some more I really would like to use the canister line. I would like to know if people have done this and it's fine. Andreas Miko?
well since you have a lowport I suggest you tap into the intake manifold. Just tap right after the FPR nipple . Since your manifold is up top it's easy to get to and remove to drill/tap. Or you can weld a little bung onto the intake pipe that goes into the TB. Thats where I've hooked wastegates up to since it doesn't need to read boost. I think tapping the manifold is the best way ***, no worries about mucking up fuel pressure. And also make sure you zip tie all your vacuum fittings.

Hey thomas you've probably heard this a thousand times but shouldn't you have your FPR hooked up by itself. I mean if a line comes off you run lean and boom. I'd personly keep the FPR by itself, tap the Intake and run everything off of that.

I am so sick of everyone saying get out the drill!!! ***** has shown me pictures or said that THEY tapped their own intake but they are telling me to do it.
If you have done it, then please advise how and where you drilled it exactly. It is not as easy as it looks to drill something as odd shaped as the intake. PLUS tapping soft aluminum is HARD. I would do 100 turbo drain drill and taps before trying to do the intake. The factory gives you a boss to guide you there.
Thanks for all the responses to far, but please give more info behind a suggestion.

I haven't found a good spot either. I know I want to change my vacuum lines though. I developed a leak on a POS autometer brass fitting and it was T'ed off my FPR. It ran way lean and DETONATION CITY. My motor sucks.

george peters (used to work for JWT) told terrin to tap off his charcoal canister, so it should be fine.
you could get a 98, i had an empty nipple sitting on top of my manifold, about 3" past the throttle body. i also have all those extra, big, nasty, hoses on top that prevent me from using any reasonably priced STB. :D
