: biggest turbo, gtir mani
Killdannow 06-09-2006, 01:05 AM Ok, yes I searched. I just want to confirm with something a little more recent, because there were only a couple very old threads.
gt 3037 is the biggest turbo that goes on a gtir manifold, and it supports about 400whp?
pentiumpush 06-09-2006, 01:26 AM as far as i know, that is correct. and, yes, that turbo will support 400hp as long as you have all the right supporting hardware and tuning to go along with it.
SR20Turbofreak 06-09-2006, 10:43 AM a gt3037 will support more than 400whp. I have seen a gtir motor do 454whp on a GT3076R, same as a gt3037 but with a 56.5mm turbine instead of the hks 60mm turbine. I dont know how much boost though. i do know it was external w/g.
civicdragon 06-09-2006, 12:58 PM most likely you will have to modify it for an external gate... jp made a post about the 3037 on a gtir with internal wastegate and it wasnt working very well

yeah definitely with the external gate. The reason im asking is *** i want a high hp turbo for the ve, but ***** makes manifolds specifically for the ve. So i can take the stock vet manifold and mod it for external gate, but I wanted something with more than 400 whp capability. Thinking up towards 500. :D

ewwwww disco potato. They say the block can take it, so Id like to give it to it and see what happens t :biggthump
I dont understand honestly why any of the guys do it. If our going to spend a grand on a dp why not spend a grand on a sc61, if you want a turbo that spools fast why dont you get a t28 for 400 bucks off the forum.
Heres where Id like to go t

SR20DET rods $100
SR20DET pistons about 9.3-1 compression New with rings $280 or used $120

740cc side feed injs $540 on EBAY
T3T04 Turbo .63 turbine, stage 5 wheel with 60 trim or larger compressor wheel.
Turbo Manifold Log or equal length $400-$800
That will net 450-480 WHP at 20 PSI all day with no stress.
This comes from the assumption that DET guys make 400-420 WHP at 20 PSI. The VE with better head and bigger cams will net an xtra 50 WHP while costing less t0 build
But I was seeing if there were any options for the ve manifold like that. Motor comes in any day, got a deposit on it already.

i picked up a classic for this actually. the 200s staying on daily duty.
Killdannow 06-10-2006, 02:14 AM Any transmission work in mind?
its in my mind, but will wait until it needs to be done. I fully subscribe to keep it simple stupid, and if aint broke dont fix it theories. So I know my options, but I aint got a hole in my pocket either :biggthump
B14 Se-Rious 06-10-2006, 02:22 AM disc potato.... a 1g for a turbo that will barely make 300whp... psh, a 1g can get you ANYTHING BETTTER and bigger. I would never buy a dp, even a gtir t28 outflows it for half the price after a rebuild. my 2 cents, stick with a 3037
insane imports 06-10-2006, 03:53 AM Or a gt2871r, i was thinking about a disco potato, but for almost the same price the 2871r makes more hp and spools almost as quick.
Later,Jon
Killdannow 06-10-2006, 12:09 PM yep the dp spool too quick, its impossible to modulate. and 300whp for a grand i mean come on what a rip.
