: Finished GTi-R Swap, Pics, Update, also need ECU pinouts for EBC

I just finished a GTi-R swap in a customer's 1996 SE-R. The customer provided me with a GTi-R Harness and ECU, but I did not use them, I went with a JWT ECU, Cobra MAF, and injector resistor combo. This was my first SR engine swap... I done a 200SX before, but a stock motor swap, 1.6-1.6.

I want to thank Chris at SR20Development for overnighting me a bunch of parts... he went out of his way to get me the stuff I needed ASAP.

Anyhow, the wastegate actuator on this thing is at 9psi... the Apexi website doesnt have the ECU pinouts for the OBD-II SE-R... so if someone has the manual or something and can scan a page or something so that I can tell what pins are what? I wanna get this AVC-R in.

I would appreciate it, thanks.

The car isnt running right yet, its running rich off the scale on the wideband on the dyno. I beleive I have a massive boost leak... gonna try and work that out tommarow... I think its coming from where I have the BOV blocked off, I plan to take care of this possible leak by installation of the BOV. Car gets a lot of attention driving around without a hood... and the BOV isnt on yet, the compressor surge is extremely loud, its a head turner. This motor isnt in the greatest shape either... the PCV is pushing a lot of oil, and the valvetrain can be heard from the interior... oh well... doesnt meant you cant have fun with it for a while. Compression did, however, check out between 150-160 on all 4... maybe its just a valve guide.

Nice install, but... What is he doing? Top mount with a hood scope or front mount? Still a very nice install man.

I need them as soon as you can send them, I have the AVC-R wiring just sitting there by the ECU waiting to be spliced in... Please share them with me ASAP. I would appreciate it!

I think the customer is going to get a hood scoop. I will have new pics of the install tommarow, we welded up a gorgeous BOV setup, re-did the brake booster line, re-did the throttle cable setup, and the engine got rained on so now its dirty... need to clean it up again.

The GTi-R has a mechanical valve train, which makes more noise the the hydraulic valve train that the BB DET, and DE have. So it could be that difference that makes it seem louder. There could be a problem too, who knows!

Lyn: I am actually more familiar with the GTi-R then I am with any standard SR motor... My friend and I have completely torn apart his and I have gone through all the locating of parts for it. We are building it up for his race car... a NX2k... You can see a pic of car here: (we say it looks like a Yellow Ninja Turbo Head)

Nice man! Oh well, it was just a suggestion. Is the car that you are building a drag car?

The NX2K should still be streetable this year, but for the most part... the owner is most interested in drag racing it and taking it to shows... its taking forever the get the dang parts ***... we have some of the Jun valvetrain that I got from Japan (let me know if you guys need any cool JDM stuff... I can get it all), but we need to get the rest... Basically here is the parts we have or have on the way...

JWT (Arias) Pistons
JWT (???) Billet Rods
Some oil pump that JWT tells me is better then stock
Stock GTi-R Crank
Fidanza FWD SR Flywheel (will machine holes to fit GTi-R flywheel bolts)
Jun Valveguides
Jun Titanium Retainers

Next to get on the way here are:

Unorthodox Crank and Water Pump pulley... no AC, no PS. This is more for rotating assembly weight reduction and balancing since we have no desire to underdrive the water pump.

Jun Valvesprings, hopefully their standard SR duals will work with their RNN14 retainers, their URL says nothing of it.

Jun Camshafts

and you know, the other stuff... cam gears, EMS, turbo system, etc etc. We need to get started ASAP on it... but its really hard since we are working on other cars, and then I got retail stuff to handle, then I got my own car to assemble (MR2 Turbo), then I cant even get them to ship the pistons and rods already so we can have our machine shop put together the bottom end...

Too much to do in too little time...
