This question has probaly been asked a million times, but has anyone ever built a sucessful GTi-R sr20de-t(ve)?

actually i never heard it, but i knew it was coming. I have no idea anyway.

You mean take a VE and add ITB's and turbo it?

I might as well do it since I'm already doing an imposible swap... Can anyone help?

I know of a HKS Kansai built GTiR with a SR20VET

The GTiR inlet manifold would not fit the VE so it would be a little hard to build...

I'd think you'd put the VE head on a GTiR block and put the ITB's on the VE head, simply because the GTiR bottom end is so bullet proof and is the right compression for turbo. I'm not sure how much if any, compression would change with the VE head on. This all, assuming the VE head would even match up properly to the GTiR block. If it's possible, I think you'd have a strong and crazy powerful motor. You'd have to be sure to use a p11 lsd tranny though and since you're already going balls to the wall, put a cryotreated and shot peed PAR gearset in it and some raxles. Honestly though, you're probably going to be just as happy with a properly tuned GTiR as you would if you'd went through all this trouble and expense.

I thought you couldn't bolt the VE head on the GTi-R block.

I would say get a DE Block, add oil squirters and use a VE head with an O2 induction manifold. That would be fine.

the ve head would bump compression to ~9.3:1 IIRC

a VE head will work on a GTIR motor with slight modification. yes this has been asked over and over.

if someone had a VE motor and they threw a rod and they had a det/gtir motor laying around, just swap all the VE top end stuff onto the DET bottom end and call it a day.

If it was a regular DET...If you slap a VE head on a GTiR bottom end, compression would be approximately 9.0:1...perfect for boost

the gtir and det pistons have the same dish. the compression difference comes from the cyl head. the gtir head has 2-3cc larger combustion chambers this drops the compression from 8.5 to 8.3. a ve head on a gtir short block will still be in the 9.3:1 range

Yes...correct. I was thinking out of my ass at that moment.

has no one considered the 12mm head studs on the GTiR VS 11mm head stud holes on the VE head?

they will fit, the holes are big enough for the 12mm bolts. i would probobly hone the holes out or drill them maybe .020-.030" larger.
