I want to weld on a capped flange on my down pipe right at the 90* bend. For track days only. I wouldn't have to jack the car up to get to it, so I could unbolt it easily. It also shouldnt be much lower then the exhaust already is. (for ground clearance issues) I'm sure it will have great Increase's in hp or spool up time. But what could be some bad things to happen. Would that be to close to the motor to open up at. How much would it hurt performance when closed. figured it might cause a lil turbulance in the exhaust when driving arround town and screw up the velocity of exhaust flow. if thats even a factor in a 3" turbo exhaust.
thanks for the info and opinions in advance

allright took a good look and it looks like the best place for me to put it is about 12" behind the 90 bend right past the oil pan. so I guess being to close to the turbo question is out. i dont think its to short a distance now. but still a lil worried about messing up flow of the exhaust system when closed. but not real worried many people have done similar setups.

it would be a good idea to run a pipe off of the cutout and away from the oil and stuff that doesnt like heat. (ask me how i know 350 for a new oil pump :( Dont worry to much about messing up the flow you will have alot better flow no matter what

thanks... i was thinking if i did it right in the front to make a quick connect pipe that shoots the hot air away safely.

just make sure to keep the downpipe and dumptube dump away from the turbo inlet...EGR=less power.

yeah ... im not sure about putting it in front any more... although it would be easier to swtich over... but it might have to go in front of the cat now. but im not sure about inspection. if they see a y-pipe in front of the cat they might fail me... but they just do a quick check with a mirror so if it was in front they would never see it.
