: need major help on sentra..
chineseflyrice 06-13-2006, 12:07 AM Man my se-r is dying on me...
Axle took a sh*t on me on passenger side. Took it to a buddy's shop, got it replaced. 2 months ago. Just last week, the axle on the same side was blown. took it back to my buddy and he tried to take it off. only problem is that it wouldn't come off. He tried prying it off, using pliers, electric hammer on it. He even took off the driver side axle and tried putting a electric hammer on that side to push the passenger axle out. Again, no luck.. He tried everything, and it just wouldn't come off. He came to the conclusion that if the axle doesn't come off, it's seized onto the tranny. In other words.. More money to throw on the damn car. my question is: is it worth throwing another 800 on a 1500 dollar car? and my friend also told me that gettin a tranny is not easy. since the JDM trannys are AWD, and he said it's possible to use a 96 G20 tranny. Is it really possible? Anyone recommend a place to get a tranny? Do you guys think i should keep the Se-r or get rid of it? the damn motor is 210,000, and the rear brakes are squeking like a mother.. I changed the pads(metal master) and rotors(oem brembo) too.. well. Thanks for reading my long ass story lol.
what year of car? if you do into the the classifides there are all kinds of trans for sale.
I can only imagine you maybe half way spun your axle in the trans and thats why it wont come out. With enough effort you "could" get it out. you will never get that axle out from the other side, you have a cross pin that comes through in the diff.
I guess you are the one who needs to decide if you want to invest that money into your car, i have a trans and axles if you really want them, they are for a B13, regardless of my parts there are a lot of parts for sale on here and you should be able to find your needs and not spend what you think you will.
coach 06-13-2006, 07:40 AM My guess is since you put in an electric hammer in the driver side you just smashed up the pin in the diff and it is wrecked. Prolly just need a new trans/axles all fresh. It is actually not bad to do a swap on these cars. You can get the trans for $300-$400 sometimes cheaper.

Dan_93SER 06-13-2006, 09:53 AM Did you remove the 3 bolts from the brace that supports the axle? If not, you wouldn't be the first person to miss them.
chineseflyrice 06-13-2006, 04:32 PM yea the 3 bolts were taken off the brace. My friend also said when he took the axle off, he noticed there was no lsd on it? i thought all ser have it (mines is a 91). well. Do you guys think it's worth fixing? or should i trash it?

Fosters 06-14-2006, 01:31 PM Not to flame your buddy, but the passenger side should have slid right out w/ the 3 little bolts removed. The air hammer didn't help matters either.
I would fix the car, and honestly do some research on the price of trannys and axles on your own to verify what he says. Not saying he is lieing, just might not be as well informed about this car.
Or if you have the money, get something diff't and sell the SE-R to one of us on here. :)

When I did my VE swap the pass. axle was stuck in the carrier beam, so I pulled the whole thing off the back of the block, and then hammered and pryed the axle off the carrier bracket. Do the next guy a favor and use anti-seize to put it back together.
Like coach said you probaably did a number on it. But if you take the whole bracket off the block it may still slip out.

Its worth fixing and its also possible the person or one of the persons who owned the car before you blew the trans and stuck a P10 (G20 non lsd) tranny in there like they did to my 92 NX as it is not always easy to find a lsd tranny in the local junkyard. 96 G20 trans is possible to put in hell you can put 2000+ Sentra and G20 transmissions in there if you want with a bit of modifiying. If your set on getting rid of the car fix it then sell it, or just sell it. Dont junk a classic just because its injured. S-A-B13 for life baby lol, check the sig.

That is what I meant, to pull the carrier bearing off of the block since that is easier than pulling the axle from the carrier bearing. Either way, it should have slid out off the tranny w/ ease.
Benito Malito 06-15-2006, 01:32 PM ^ Yeah I had a feeling you meant that. It would suck if he was hammering away when its just seized in the axle carrier.
zipstrips 06-15-2006, 06:51 PM Where in PA are you? if your local ill fix it for you cheap
