It's called the Ontario Touring Car Challenge. The rules are fairly simple, maximum displacement of 2800cc, max overbore 0.040", turbocharging is only allowed if the car came turbocharged from the factory, or if the motor came turbocharged somewhere else in the world (SR20DET is allowed). Must run Toyo RA-1 tires.
Competition is equalized by weight. Weight is determined by your
-Displacement
-Number of cams
-Number of valves
-Number of cylinders
-Brake rotor diameter (front and rear)
-Number of pistons per caliper (front and rear)
-Solid rear axle or IRS.
Cars with variable valve timing, turbos or AWD have to add extra weight.
Very simple rulebook.
Cost is deceivingly high. Figure $5000 for basic race prep (not talking performance at all, mostly safety mods)
-Approved roll cage
-Racing seat
-Approved racing harnesses
-Window net
-Master Switch
-Fire extinguisher
-All kinds of stuff that you don't expect
etc.
Also figure a new set of tires every other weekend, brake pads every 3rd weekend. Also need a tow vehicle and trailer.
Also need a race license. Schools are usually in April/May and cost $800 or so, you must provide your own car.
The best way to get into it is to get your license and rent a ride in an entry level car until you get a feel for it. This way your budget is fixed (maintenance, transportation, other costs of the car are not your problem) and you can concentrate on learning to drive instead of worrying about keeping the car running. After you get comfortable and are aware of the costs, consider building your own car.

FastNX 06-24-2006, 08:31 PM Just got back from the dyno.
201 WHP all motor :biggthump
NismoSR20 06-24-2006, 09:15 PM Nice numbers man!!! I'm guessing you fine tuned the beast....more power...more wins....lmao!!!
Any more tuning before sunday?
-Ryan-
FastNX 06-25-2006, 07:13 PM We only spent 2 hours on the dyno, and the tuning is close to being perfect. There is probably another 5hp or so left in tuning, but it will likely stay this way for the remainder of the season.
New coilovers going on the car this week, then it's off to the track Thursday night.
