ok heres a strange one, im getting this clicking from the driverside when accelerating under load. it also clunks over bumps.
i was thinking along the lines of bad rear(tranny) mount. now my battery has a little leak and the other day while i was under there i took a look at the mount. the black paint on the bracket is all peeling and its covered with corrosion.
my question it could the battery acid leaking onto the rubber insert cause it to weaken?

I don't know if the acid would weaken the rubber mount.
However, I do know that our OEM motor/tranny mounts are not up to the task. They don't last very long when subject to normal driving. Then you throw an enthusiatic driver behind the wheel and start upping the horsepower. Then they suck.
You have the options of OEM, JWT, Nismo, Place Racing, ES inserts, pour your own, and Prothanes.
OEM = big dollars, and they are going to suck again relatively soon
JWT = big dollars, might or might not be available
Place Racing = big dollars, no longer manufactured
Energy Suspension = old technology inserts that re-use your crappy OEM mounts.
Pour Your Own = PITA
Prothanes = More NVH (who cares), readily available, replaces the entire OEM mount (you re-use the outer metal shell, remove the OEM rubber), and they are very inexpensive.
Lightening Motorsports carries the Prothanes. I think they were $60'ish shipped to my door.

thanks i was planning on getting the prothanes soon anyway, since i would consider myself a very "enthusiatic driver"

i was checking the mounts today i noticed the front one was torn on the top bushing. i also noticed i could move the engine ~ 1/2 an inch just by pulling up on the mount bracket.... new mounts soon i guess
