: SSAC header improvement?
SER_98 06-26-2006, 06:32 PM Aright, I'm about to install my ssac header and i want to know how much improvement i'll get at the track? .4 seconds? .3? .5?
I ran 16.19 last year bone stock.
15.92 with highport cam and k&n filter.
I hope i'll hit 15.5 with my header.
My exhaust's stock.
MARCUSMARC 06-26-2006, 11:34 PM You should be able to get a 15.5 with a good 2.2 60' launch.
Flounder 06-27-2006, 02:02 AM I ran yesterday. Best I could get was a 16.12 at 86. I have a short-ram, SSAC header and catless 2.5 exhaust. My 60' times were 2.4 with wheelspin and hop. My car is not running right though. Has to be tuned up.
Head should get you about .2, while a header AND exhaust setup will improve further.

i would think right off that your problems are in your launch....
i ran the same trap speed as you(86), but my et was 15.72....i think my 60' fts were around 2.1....cant remember right off though.
tHe iLleSt RiCe 09-22-2006, 09:46 PM 16's? those are ga16 sort of times
nismo94tuner 09-22-2006, 10:09 PM With intake, intake cam, and header you should be hitting mid 15's. Check your timing. Is the car running proper? Full tune and such? The smallest things can play a big factor. Whats your tire pressure? How do you launch? Everything counts.

a slipping clutch will also affect ur times
LikeTheMovies 09-22-2006, 11:59 PM im running 15.3's with header back exhaust 2.5" thats it...stock i hit 15.6s...you guys need to work on your 60's....
MIXMASTAP2 09-23-2006, 10:10 AM yeah i had all the little stuff, intake cam, timing, header, no cat, side pipe, cai, light wheels and a little weight reduction on my old car and i was hitting high 14's at mid 90's
nismo94tuner 09-23-2006, 11:26 AM a slipping clutch will also affect ur times
This definately makes a big difference. My car feels so much quicker now with a fresh ACT even rolling on 17's then it did with my old clutch rolling on stock rims.
MIXMASTAP2 09-23-2006, 12:12 PM lightweight wheels are the bomb shizzle ***. a good clutch will help if you have a lot of power. a slipping clutch will kill your times. one of the biggest differences i felt on my car was the 11lb wheels with good tires. helps cornering, braking (helps a lot in braking), and acceleration.

what were your 60's? were these runs possibly done in the cold winter up there, *** some of our runs were done in 90* heat in FL....thought maybe that could make a differance. im goin to double check my 60' times now.....be back later.
:edit: .....after i actually checked, my 60' times were only around 2.355, which can improved alot i think.
LikeTheMovies 09-24-2006, 01:38 PM no it was actually done in the summer...tracks closed in winter... so it was in about 80-90 degrees....
XxToKeSxX 09-24-2006, 03:25 PM I have a HS gen 3...
Fill your tires to stock pressure, miss 4th gear, and make sure to turn your front damper up to the max... You'll be running high 16's w/ an 86 trap like me in no time...
My speed is sick because I got drag skiyill's yo... chuch...
LikeTheMovies 09-24-2006, 04:17 PM i never hit 4th gear stock i just let it hit the redline becuase it would be pointless to shift *** as i hit it i crossed the line then shifter once i got my exhaust i had to shift into 4th though
matt_pound 09-25-2006, 04:58 AM my 240 i didn't have to shift into 4th until lthe turbo upgrade
i hit 101mph @7500rpm just as i crossed the line
but when i put the t-28 on i had to shift into 4th for the 108mph
sr20dePOS 09-25-2006, 11:46 AM i ran 15.4@88.68 with a 60 of 2.2.. with a KN filter, stock exhaust and and a busted flex pipe ssac. Car also had 12 disc changer, baseball bat, and misc bullshit in the back...
Flounder 09-26-2006, 12:41 AM I ran again yesterday. My new time was a 15.5 at 88 mph. Would be faster if I had some motor mount inserts and better tires. All I changed since the first time was a CAI instead of the WAI, and I installed a 91 intake cam. My engine runs like a brand new motor. Smooth as butter and pulls much harder than before.
LikeTheMovies 09-28-2006, 12:12 PM I ran yesterday...hit 15.27@89mph with a 2.27 60' im getting pretty impressed at my driving skills haha. the header deffinatly helps a lot...then highport cam and intake hopefully i 'll be running high 14's!!!
Flounder 09-28-2006, 03:08 PM good time. The SSAC header does have some good flow.
