My a/c compressor is bad and I am debating on either getting a rebuilt one, which is cheaper or a brand new one.


Any of you guys used a rebuilt a/c compressor and did it give you any problems.?

The reason why I am asking is because the a/c shop I went to said to get a new one cause it will last long and the rebuilt one wouldn't.

I would like to save money on getting a rebuilt a/c compressor but I also would like it to last long and trouble free for a long time.


So the question again, is should I get a new one or a rebuilt a/c compressor and if any of you guys who got a rebuilt compressor did it last long or not.

how much is the rebuilt one anyways? i would never pay 600 bucks or so for a brand new one, i dunno, im cheap. i'd rather buy a used one for cheap but if the rebuilt one is cheap as well, let's say 250 or so, i'd think about it. but if it's like 450 or so compared to 600, might as well get the new one right?

your better off getting a new one, they run for about 450$ i got a re-build from this company called "Fleet" and it went bad in a week, then ended up buying a brandnew compressor

theres a lot of a/c delete people on this forum. if i was you, ide try to get one cheap from one of them.

as for pricing a brand new one runs about $500 plus and the rebuilt one is about $260.

i got it from the same company i got the rebuild from which was Fleet, but i got new the second time, i got it because they distribute to a local company that i use to work for

if i was you, i'd just wait until a used one comes up in the classifieds. usually for like 100 bucks or so, maybe a little less.

Check ebay too

I got a used one for $100 from autogator.com like 5 years ago. Still works!
