: Do AGX's lower a B13? Measurements needed!!!

OK guys, I need your help again. While working on the high rate spring deal (that has become a full time, unpaid job for me), we seem to have uncovered the possibility that AGX shocks lower the car.

When Hyperco engineered the 1st gen spring, all measurements were based on a car with stock springs and shocks. Using these measurements they calculated a 1.4" drop front, and 1.25" drop rear, which worked great with stock struts. Once people started using the springs with AGX's the cars were riding too low.

In the following pictures the car with the B14 wheels has stock springs with AGX shocks, while the other car has Hypercoil 1st generation springs with AGX shocks. It's clear to see that the ride height of the car with stock springs is lower than stock.

What I need is measurements on all 4 corners of a B13 with stock springs and shocks, and the same measurements of a B13 with stock springs and AGX's.

Please make sure that;
1) Your trunk is empty
2) Tell me how much gas is in the tank
3) You do this on a level surface
4) Tell me how many miles are on the car.

Please measure as shown in this picture
http://www.spikeengineering.com/lightning/rearht.jpg
and accompanying thread
http://www.nloc.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=13525

As you all know, every 1/4" of travel counts on a B13, and these measurements will go a long way to helping manufacture a product that's going to do a great job.

Thanks a bunch,

Chris

Um, i dont know about this chris, ask stef, and his car with the eibachs and the KYBs, looks HIGHER than my SER with tocrapos and eibachs. Ask stef for some #s, and I'll give you mine.....

If this helps, i dont know!

chris if your worried about agxs lowering well dont...

Having people measure axle to fender is inconsistant and everyone knows springs settle. If its worth it, the ONLY way to know for sure if the agxs do lower is by examining and measuring the distance to the spring seats on the agx and a factory strut. I could be wrong but i really think that you will find the agx identical to the OEM strut.

FWIW my car isn't any lower after going from Eibachs/stock struts to Eibach/AGX.

Don't know if this will help, but there it is.

Here is my car, with stock springs, AGX shocks, 205-50-15 kuhmo 712 tires. The shocks have about 20k miles on them, and the car and springs has 120k miles. It looks higher than the car in the pictures with the stock springs.

I'll try to get some measurements for ya to. I have some, but they are from the ground not the center of the wheel.

If anything, I've noticed a tendency for aftermarket gas-charged struts to *raise* a car (very) slightly. Lower? No way. Sounds like something's amiss in the spring design perhaps???

Hey Chris,
Here are the measurements for stock 93 SE-r, automatic, empty trunk, full tank of gas, and about 53,000 miles:

both front: 14.25"

left rear: 13.875"
right rear: 14.25"

P.S. Isidro should be getting my check by now, and thank for putting all of this together.

Mada
