I have a 94 SE-R and about three weeks ago my friend and I installed the GC coilover setup with the KYB AGX's. First they squeak and last week I noticed the drivers side cv boot ripped and grease was all over. I replaced and kept on trucking. Today I change the oil and noticed the passenger cv boot ripped also. I have dropped this car so there in barely any fender gap, but it isn't too low. I just bought this car and dont know (if ever) the cv axles had been replaced. The car has 102k and is in good condition, but my question is: Does anybody have this set-up, and has this happened to you? Is this a coincidence or is this just a car getting old? If this is going to be a yearly thing how can I prevent it?

Well it has been shone that most of the aftermarket CV shafts and boots (ones you get from pep boys etc) never hold up as well as the OEM Nissan ones do.

I have the OEM Nissan shafts on my car at 153k miles and no rips in the boots or anything.

My GF on the otherhand has Aftermarket boots on her car (nx2k) and they are cracked and checked real bad (not broke yet but will be soon im sure)

Something for you to consider. Possibly someone changed the axles before you bought it and put aftermaket ones in instead of OE nissan stuff.

BTW I have so many miles on mine that the grease in the joints has deteriorated to the point where when its cold it clacks and when it warms up it is fine. But no Leaks yet!
