I will soon be acquiring the two pulley set from UR (hopefully group buy) after that engine-wise what should I do next. I'd like to stay N/A but it doesn't look like the JWT cams are worth looking into. So far I have the 4th Gen Hotshot Header, PRI C/A/I, Stromung Full-Catback, and Eibach Springs/SMC Short shift kit. I plan on doing the GC/custom spring rate as described in SOLM. Any other ideas?

You bought the hotshot header but you don't think the jwt cams are worth it? They give about equal gains and cost about the same amount so how are they not worth it?

uh... the JWT cams aren't worth it? How did you come to that conclusion? Get the JWT ECU and a set of cams, whichever ones suit your needs better. The C2/C3 cams are lumpy but they're pretty wild and make a lot of high end power. The S3/S4 cams are milder but still give you a nice HP increase, and most of it is all across the powerband in addition to beefing up the high end. The JWT ECU compliments them very nicely.

There you go!!
Have you dynoed your car yet, CleanB15?

Ummm....are we forgetting that his car has the roller-rocker engine? The only cams available for his car are the s3 variation. Altho, I've read that the gains are similar to the header. I think they are probably worth it......

You may want to consider a lightened flywheel. I'd also consider throwing in some primera pistons. However, that is more involved than cams. So, there you go!

The gains I have seen with the S3 cams have been minimal, to say it would be worth the $550 + shipping + $300 install charge. $800 for 5hp, as opposed to 10-12 peak hp I got when installing the hotshot header that I got $405 shipped.

If you can install a header, you can install cams. Its not worth paying 300 to install cams.

Want me to spend your money. HMMM. Actually this is easy. Buy some wheels and some good tires for autocrossing/driving schools/drag racing whatever you like most. Then drive your car on the extra wheels and save your other wheels for the street. That way you can play all you want and not feel guilty. Buy a helmet for the driving schools (look up NASA in your area). This way you can impress all your freinds with the wild stories of all the legal racing you are doing. Best money ever spent.

Steve

Edit: I know this is not what you were looking for, just another perspective. This might cure your desire to build your car until the industry fixes the ECU thing, hopefully. Also, you need racing pads and fluid before you go to the track (roadcourse only).

Definatley not worth paying $300 to install JWT cams cause I'll do it for someone for $150 :)

BTW, don't know how true that is about the header thing - installing cams and headers are worlds apart, cams require very precise movements and directions - header your just slap on and tighten down basically.

monkey dung everywhere....how did that happen. :-P

Ok first off for the roller rocker motors there is only a s3 variant cam available. That cam made around 9hp peak with max gain of 12hp right near redline. I'm not sure where you came up with 5hp but you are off. As far as your header alone giving you 10-12 hp you are just guessing. I think it was more like 9hp at most, again another guess but a more appreciate one. A cam install can be done on your own with about $50 worth of tools if you don't own a torque wrench that does inch lbs and patience. Ask your local se-r guys, I'm sure they will help you.

I paid 95 dollars to get my S3s installed 300 dollars is like rediculous. Thats like going to a porsche dealer and telling them to install your cams
