Here's the deal; My clutch cable from the orginal install(about 3 years ago) was streched and wouldn't come all the way up to the orginal pedal position and only engaged when the pedal pressed against the floor. So we replaced it and the pedal came all the up, but it still engaged very very low. So thanks to a member here I put some spacers on the clutch cable and cut some of the threads off it so I could tighten it more. That worked great. Now; that cable finally snapped all the way down to one metal thread, so I cut the new screw to length after I took the old one out(I tried the new one first and it was way too long) and put some spacers on the new one, well this felt really good. Now like a week later it is completely stretched, I can barley put it in gear and nothing is wrong with the cable.

SO my queston is what happened to my clutch cable? What could be bent and how do I fix it?

Thanks for reading, any help it appreciated...

I just had the exact same problem. But I think I was having pressure plate problems and throw out bearing issues. Make sure you put the clutch cable back into the little bracket on the inside of the strut tower.

Yea it is in both of the bracket on the strut and on the tranny, So what do I do? Get a new PP? Throw out bearing? Custom make a shorter cable? What someone please help drive my G and stop borrowing my G/f's Kia.... ewwww korean cars..

I understand the 1.6 cable is a tad shorter, could try that; my guess *** is that your bracket might be cracked - look around down there while somebody's pushing on your pedal to see if you can spot anything moving that shouldn't be.

Yup... I would definitely check the bracket on the clutch release arm on the tranny. That is where mine broke when my cable was stretched and T/O bearing was going bad.

for me it was a $1000 fix... clutch, flywheel, T/O bearing, clutch release arm, labor....:(

Oh shit, so what is the throw out bearing exactly? Man it may come down to a part out... this sucks..... :(

Throwout bearing is what pushes on the pressure plate springs to disengage the clutch. That's actually what you're pushing against when you push on the clutch pedal which pulls the cable which rotates the lever down there on the bell housing. Requires pulling the gearbox to replace it, while you're in there might as well check the flywheel surface and also toss in a new clutch disk and pressure plate. Not an exercise I'd exactly call FUN, but not a part out. Just old car maintenance. AND we don't know that's what you're dealing with yet. Could just be cable and bracket, which are right out there on top.

yep, id say t/o or something inside there is giving your clutch cable hell. Take it all apart and give it a good examination ;)

Make sure to clean the hell out of the lever on the inside of the bellhousing and lube it up afterwards.
