I wanted to share that I I just got back from the muffler shop where I had the loud as hell hotshot flex pipe replaced with a nice 2 1/4 stainless steel one from JCWhitney.
My car is finally quiet again, doesn't make squirell noises, just a nice deep exhaust note out the back, where it should be.
The technican I was talking to who welded my new flex pipe in, said the old one looked ok.
After hearing the before and after with the new one in, he was convinced that the hotshot flex pipe is a piece of sh*t.
Thank you I'm done.

Did your original HS flex-pipe make a buzzing/hissing sound? This is my second downpipe (first one had a flex-pipe leak). Both of the downpipes emit(ed) the buzzing/hissing sound from the flex-pipe area. I'm seriously considering doing the same thing you did to fix it.
Did you use any of these flex-pipes for the replacement?:

Thanks!
Edit: Oh, I just remembered, I still have my first down-pipe (the one that has the flex-pipe leak). Hotshot never followed up on my attempts to ship the defective downpipe back. So, I could have the new flex-pipe welded onto the downpipe that's sitting in my garage, then try it on my car. :D

I am using the 2.25 flex pipe that is in your link from JC Whitney.
I have a tuneable muffler and I threw in the silencer for shits and giggles. I swear it sounds stock... well except for the S4's :D
It still make some different than stock noise since I have an exhuast, but it's 100% better than with the shitty hotshot flex pipe. I HIGHLY recommend this "upgrade" !!!
Edit: damn I can't spell.
