1995 200sx SE-r
Dont really know where to start but I'll try.
First off my car used to have a Turbo kit on it. The boost controls and such. I had to remove them because of an idiot mistake on my park. The gas was burning lean because one of the digital controllers, and had to many dumb mechanics telling me otherwise.
I recently got the car back from the mechanic. Right now I have performance heads and intake on it, but thats about it right now.
But down to the problem at hand. When I got the car back I noticed that the break and battery light stayed on when I drove the car, didnt think anything about it, and had planned on taking it back to the shop to get it looked at. One day I was driving the car around the block, seeing if all the kinks were worked out, when the car seemed like it was choaking, and then died on me. Thought at first could have been me being stupid with the clutch, tried to start it back up and everything was dead. So thinking it was the battery, I had one of my friends come and give me a jump, car started back up, then made it about a street or so from my house, car died again. In thinking that, thought it could have been the Alternator not charging the battery anymore. Weird seeing as it hadent been giving me any other problems before hand.
Ended up taking out my battery, and put in my girlfriends from her Accord, to see if it WAS just the battery. The car started up but then we took of the main line from the battery and it died right away. Taking some friends advice I tried to charge my old battery; and the next day tried it with my battery, and wouldnt start. But then I tried it with my girlfriends again, and it still wouldnt start.
So I really dont know where to go with this. I came on here and looked around to see if anyone had the same problems as myself. I've heard everything from the battery being back, to bad connectors, grounds being bad, the alternator going on, even the starter and MAF sensor. But I'm not to sure what the hell could be the problem. I'm hoping its nothing major, seeing as it wasent giving me any problems before I took it to the shop as far as this. Really cant afford to be wrong when getting the problem fixed, short on cash and NEED the car running. So any help would be totoally apperciated.
Here's some background on the car
First off the car sat for about 10 months, with the same battery. I had the car Dino'ed with the Turbo and it came out fine, so I'm thinking the problem came after that. Below are some pictures I took of the battery and the wires around it. If anyone wants I can take some more at any location needed

Here's a video of me trying to start my car today (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBak2uTLPP4)
As you can see if doesnt want to start, just clicked. But I've had it started with my girlfriends battery the first time, and when jumping it from another car. So I dont think its the starter. Plus you can hear the click, so I dont think its the silinoid.
PLEASE LOOK AND GIVE FEEDBACK ON HERE

Sounds like a dead alternator that keeps killing batteries. Check the alternator fuse first. You kill a battery bad enough and it won't ever charge again, sounds like that's what's happening here.

are the battery terminals tight and not loose? to me it sounds like one of the terminals or something is loose, that's why your car won't start. those OE terminals overtime don't tighten down as good. On the other hand you will need to buy a alternator as well.

CEL + Brake light = Need to change your alternator don't look for any further problems.

Yea I dont really know, but I think it is the Alternator. Just sucks, I dont wanna shell out the 120 its going to cost for one installed if thats not it. I had a 94 honda that turned out to be a money pit. Something would go wrong, Id put money into it, and then it would turn out it was something else. Busted my wallet. Is there anyway to TEST the alternator? Where exactly is the fuse located at? And how hard is the Alternator to remove? I noticed its kinda stuck above the A/C unit, and I'd have to remove some hoses. Any ideas? and fuck lol

You did find a caring soul and that soul is saying. CHANGE your alternator. I'm pretty sure more than one member here has one for sale for under $50 in good condition.

PM this guy FNSIKSER he seems to have all the parts in the world.

By watching the video, i had the same thing happen to me once. It was when the ground on the battery was loose and i forgot to tighten it. It would click once, then the lights would shut off. So im gonna go with get another negative wire on the battery.

Battery & Brake light on are an indication of a bad alternator on our cars. Further, when you disconnect the battery on a running car, it relies on the alternator to keep it running. So that's a second indication that the alternator is bad.

And a distributer o-ring.... Oh the oil leak!!ok, F*CK!!!

I have the same oil leak (in your third pic down, all that oil, is from the dist o-ring) and I have been riding around with the o-ring in my glovebox for 6 months now...

oils still leaking:rofl:

and I doubt its the alternator, this is only a functioning part AFTER the car is running, it does nothing to start the car, hell disconnect it even.

probably battery is DEAD or just can't put the volts out anymore, most likely because of a bad alternator. otherwise it sounds like a messed up wire or ground somewhere, maybe something isn't connected?

Oh great - thanks for wasting my time. I replied to one of your other many threads on this. DO NOT create multiple threads, it just causes problems.

I'm going to merge all your threads into this one, so that others who took the time will have there answers here as well.

Yea I really dont know what it could be. Is there any specific ways I can test it? I mean its weird seeing as I tried the NEW battery again and it didnt work. I do appreciate all the help I'm getting here though

Check the starter connections. If there lose the car won't charge either.

Is there anyone out there can tell me HOW to do all these things? I mean I know how to check the battery cables and such, but like the start connections, just the plug? or whatnot? any help would be appreciated

Ok look at the tranny there is a hump at the top near the intakemanifold. Reach your hand behinde it and feel if it's lose. It's a 14mm or 12mm bolt holding on the power wire for it. OR you can jack up the car and slide under it and reach up. it's behinde the motor under the intakemanifold, closer to the trans. hope that helps.

check, clean & tighten battery terminals. that should be it.
