PPI A600.2
300x2 geniune true power...

or for a shameless plug - try clarions new amps, same guts as last year (reliable, clean and powerful) but in new cases that are cool, you can paint the heatsink and the inside of the grating to the heat sink easily (its designed for this).

Very cool..

600 watts is more than enough if u get a quality amp. YOU WOULD NOT NEED MORE POWER. I'm running 2 12" kicker L7's powered by a ppi 2600.2 amp (2x300 watts rms) older style. I blew up an eclipse aluminum 12" sub during a spl contest w/ this amp. it simply kicks ass.

other amps i would recommend are the new class d kicker amps (they come w/ kool remote bass adjuster for free!!!) nice sound quality. although my ppi kills my friends 1200.1 amp. and of course you can't go wrong w/ rockford fosgate.

i'll see if i can put up a picture of the sub i blew its pretty badass. Magnolia hi-fi put it up for display because it was one of the best subs of its time when i blew it. lol

Distortion kills speakers, not power..... I had one of my A1200.2's hooked up to a pair of pioneer's cheapest 10" subs for months in a BANDPASS box.....

Don't crank the volume knob past the point where the speaker sounds like shite boys and girls....

Adjust your amp gains once, and adjust them right and you'll never have this problem.

Also in box construction too - I've seen tons of people put speakers in generic ported or bandpass boxes and blow them - would have been ok however at even low volumes the speakers voice coil extened past the pole and viola blown speaker.....

600w will be plenty my friend, the PPI amp's 600 watts will be better than ANY new amps rated at even 1.5x more than that......

I can also suggest the clarion DPX1000.2 - goto:

I did that install, 4-10"s with 1000w (also comes with the bass control knob). Anyways again - that is feeding WAY to much power to what the speakers are rated for, BUT we adjusted the gains AND the bass knob so that at max volume the amp wouldn't clip and he's had no problems since (this is now going into his NX hehehehe)

I totally agree.

My friends and I would go to SPL competitions back in high school so we purposely tried to blow up any and all subs we used (thank you extended warrenty). I'd recommend getting a sub-sonic filter if you ever try this. I never had one so we went through quite a few subs, thats also the reason the eclipse blew. I think alot of amps now come w/ em anyway. so no worry

Chris i'd love to see some pics of your system when you get it installed in the NX. That thing will pound.

i haven't put my subs in my 200 yet but probably summer time i will. i'm now into more go-fast goods but am too poor to buy any.lol

Just because the A600.2 is rated at 600 watts doesn't mean that all. A friend of mine had a A600 in a Ranger with 4 JL 12W1s. It was a bandpass box in the bed with a 14" x 4' hole through the cab. It was measured at ~140 db. This was back in '94. The A series amps kick ass. Soundstream makes good products too. I have a MC245 that I bought used in '95, and it still works perfectly all these years later.

I would say get a class d amp, you want more than 600, then get the JBL BP 1200.1, they are very cheap now and they have lots of class d power. I have the 600.1 and I'm very satisfied with it powering 2 alum audiobahns (in a sealed box made my myself, heavy as hell though :( ) ... well I think you should get a class D amp, they are very effficient and they should be less of a load on your electrical system than the regular A/B amps... and I think www.carsound.com has better forums than sounddomain, at least last I heard sound domain wasn't as informative/knowledgable/professional as carsound... good luck
