Ok guys, here is my question for anyone with intercooler knowledge. I am going to be running a Gti-R T28 turbo setup soon. I just can't decide on an intercooler, I am trying to stay cheap, so here are the choices I have found thus far. GTi-R intercooler(needs a little repair, I can have it tested and repaired very very cheap), Starion/Conquest intercooler, or one that Andreas can get for me, I will call andreas and get the flow characteristics for the one he has, but I want to hear comments from you guys on which one I should get and why. I haven't decided on top-mounting or front-mounting the I/C, any suggestions,

Front mount by far. One of the reasons I detonated so bad on my motor was because my IC was top mounted. It soaks up heat and the intercooler becomes extremely hot to the touch. Scalding hot. This is how hot the air is before it goes into your motor. Good? NOPE. Just get the IC Andreas recommends. The Starion core is not that efficient. Front mount it. Now that my IC is front mounted, it never even gets warm to the touch, but when you compare between the pipe on the left versus the pipe on the right, there's a big difference in temperature.

what about the Gti-R cooler, I wouldnt mind converting completely to a GTi-R setup, plus I save a good amt of money with the Gti-R one. Should I just spend the extra cash and go with Andreas?

The GTI-R intercooler will work fine if it is front mounted. BUT, have FUN doing that. It is way too tall. Even though it is big, top mounting it will still soak up heat. This is from experience, not repeating what others say like a lot of people on this forum do. Just wait and do it right the first time.

I might get the Gti-R one anyways as a spare anywho. But have you seen how much space there is to fit an intercooler in a B15?
the opening on the bumper alone is 34Lx8(or 10)L, I could easily fit a 35x16x6 intercooler if they made one that big, lol,
thanks,

I measured the space before I bought my GTi-R intercooler JC, and it fits.. I should have it in my hands tomorrow anyway so I'll catch ya on aim and let you know.
