I am going to be getting a s14 engine and have read that it is good to change the main or Rod bearings out. It is one of those I think. I was also just wondering if I could just take off the oil pan and then put oil on the main and rod bearing, then turn the motor by hand so that the oil would lube them up. Would that help at all? I hear alot of people say, they never even touch their engine at all and they do not have problems with there bottom end.

some say itd be risky if you didnt do it. but if your good mechanically, your best bet is takin the rod bearings out by hand before installation, goin to the dealership and showin them to the dealership so they can see what grade bearings you have and get them ordered, then install them yourself. otherwise either pay big bucks to get a shop to do it or just run the risk and boom! no money spent, but youll feel much better knowing you did it the right way:)
