Hey people I think I am ready to drop the motor out of the NX2000. I have a few questions. Where do you hook up chains to lift the motor? I don't want to crush anything. I have the radiator out an alternator. Do I have to take the power steering pump out? It looks like a pain to get to. Do I absolutely need a engine hoist or can I use like two floor jacks. Just looking for some help this has been a learning experience to say the least. At this point I just have to pull the axles. Any tricks or will they just slide out? Once its out anyone want to buy it? 92 with 66000 miles on it. Later Rob

What's wrong with the motor you are pulling? I may be interested in it if nothing is wrong with it....
(I could use any tips that people give you :p I'll be pulling my motor in a few weeks too)

What you want for the motor - looks like I have another NX that needs it - why you pulling it? DET swap?

if you have the means, dropped it out of the car. maybe try running something underneath the engine and hoisting it up using those. or better yet, since i am an idiot, wait for good advice. mine is just an idea.

when i did mine i just wrapped a chain around the intake manifold and around the exhaust manifold. i then used the hook to grab both chains. it worked good and kept the whole motor pretty level. nothing was wrecked or bent for me.

You dont have to remove the alternator, um you can disconnect the power steering lines or atleast thats what i did, I would definately use a hoist, just find two sturdy points to put it on, anything else that your wondering you can ask but im mad tired and cant think of anything else off hand.
Good luck.

Thanks so looks like I need a hoist? The motor is fine it is out of that NX I bought for parts. Bad tranny.
I disconnected the main power steering line I think I have everthing else off.
What about the axles will they come out easy?
Any tricks removeing them?
Chris I will keep you in mind for the motor. There might be some people in Conneticut interested. Just want to get it it out and get the car to a junk yard. Thanks again.

Passenger side axle has three bolts and will pop right out (make sure to drain the tranny first or SURPRISE!

hehe

Other side takes some muscle, or a prybar :-P There is a circlip that holds it in, so don't be afraid to have at it.

Are autos and 5 speeds the same? This is an automatic car. I don't have to worry about fluid, the kid ran it dry and ruined it.
I also sold my other NX over the weekend. And I am shopping again. Good luck with your house. Thanks Rob
