Hey Guys,

My friend's 1997 Sentra GXE is acting funny. A few days ago he was on the interstate and he was winding out 2nd gear on the onramp, and when he hit 3rd the battery and emergency brake light come on whenever he goes into high rpm's. We don't know what rpm's it is, either. He has no tach w/ the GXE. Anyone want to guess what this could be, before we clear the code in the ECU for the check engine light that just appeared?

Alternator, bad ground, any number of things...what code did it throw? Low voltage I bet....

I had a fusible link go last week that had similar symptoms, but reversed - I had no guages/lights until I revved it up. This was the one connected to the positive battery terminal, don't know if the GA has something similar.

Its most likely the alternator/ charging system. Take it to an autoparts store and they will test the battery and alternator on the car.

i am almost 100% sure it is the Alt. the lights are a give away. Those 2 always come on when alt is gonna die. it is just a question when.

okay, cool. now i'm wondering...why do the lights only come on when he goes into a certain rpm range?
