Alright, well I did try a search and did not get exactly what I was in search of. I tried fitting some 17's on my classic. They belong to a fellow coworker but I was pretty sure they fit. I slid them on and it they fit but I was not able to tighten them down due to my short stubby lug nuts. The tire size is 215/45/R17. Now, 215 seems pretty damn wide and it is a decent sized thickness as far as the sidewalls go. I have H&R springs on my car. Sits pretty low. Now my question is, could I get away without wheel spacers or must I use wheel spacers? I know guys have run up to 18x8'' rims. I don't see why these should not fit alright. They are BSA 233's in case the rim needs to come into play.

Anyone know if I can get away with the 215's?

try em on to check for the clearance between tire and shock body then if use spacers tire to fender ... and dont make my rice meter go up with super wide looking wheels.

215/45-17 is a lot of tire, especially on the back of a Classic. Find a tire diameter chart and see how much it's going to underdrive your speedometer.

Do you really want to go through the hassel of spacers and longer studs just to fit these wheels in particular?

17x7's are kind of big, but that's your call. 17x7 4x100 wheels are cheap and everywhere, and so are less chunky tires.

I wanted to find some 16's but never came across a set that I liked. I found these and remember one of my boys used to have some rims that looked the same (Tenzo-R Shu 4's) in 17 x 7, IIRC. I just am not sure on the tire size that he ran. If I get these I need to make sure I can find some lower profile and narrower tires. One of my friends told me he ran 205/40/R17's with no issues. Gotta see what happens from here on out. Thanks for the info guys.

i have 17 X 7 tenzo with 205/40/17. i use a 5mm spacer in the back. the front is fine. i also had to use et tuner lugs in back, but i'm sure i wouldnt have to if i just got longer nismo studs. i am lowered also with absolutely no rubbing anywhere at all

205's about as wide as you can get in the rear without beating on things. I went 16"x7" 37mm offset, 205/40's. About 3/16" clearance for the strut. I've heard - including at one time Kojima saying - you can play rice (and he did) with 205/40-17 on 7" with (I think it was) 35-40mm offset. I believe I will be able to go to a taller tire (like a 50) without problems, but do not thing a 215 will go in there.

that's a big negative ghostrider. you will not, i repeat, will not fit those on the rear. a 215/45 is way way too big for the back. you won't be able to run anything bigger than a 205/40/17. the 215/45 will rub your struts. and depending on the offset of the wheel, you'll have to run spacers in the back. when i had my quantum tech's on my car, i had to run a 205/40 with a spacer in the rear. now with my enkei's i still run a 205/40/17 but the offset is not as bad as the other ones so i don't need the spacers anymore. but IMO, go on ebay and search on there for some rota's or soemthing in a 15" you can probably get them for like $400 then all you have to do is get some tires to match.

yea I have a set of 215/45/17 at my house and they do not fit. Way to big. I only have 22.5in from the ground to the top of my finder well and the 215/45/17 are a little over 24in high. Sucks cause I have some nice rims and tires here I got for free. Well I will just have to sell them and get some B14 ser wheels.

the problem fitting these on is not the height from the ground to the fender. the problem is the distance from the center of the wheel/hub to the strut. a 215 is too wide and the tire will rub on the strut. you'll notice that the car will not want to go very far, like the e-brake is on. plus without spacers on the back, the wheel may rub. you need to make sure that the offset is correct for most any wheel, especially 17's. and if you're running a 17 you will not, WILL NOT be able to run anything larger than a 205/40

^^^ Wrong. Wheels can be purchased in more than one offset...FYI. If you pick a wheel with the proper offset, then you can run a tire greater than a 205 without worry of hitting the strut, I should know this because I run 215/45/16's in the spring/fall with no issues.

Also a 24.5" tall tire will smack your spring perch if I remember right, and will gear the car down more than you want.

I also run 225/45/15 hoosiers for track usage. I haven't rolled or massaged my fenders, just keep the ground clearance high enough to keep the tires off the fenders and use a wheel with a very low offset... I did the calculations and all :)

Car looks amazing, McCoy. I will have to check the offset on these wheels or see if my buddy knows it.

Correct, wheels can be had in different offset, depending on the manufacturer. McCoy, you look further out than my 37mm offset 16x7's? my 205/40's are pretty close to the rear struts. THX

h&r's springs and wide tires dont mix. I couldnt even fit 205's on with my h&r's...

:eek2: . Well, I am going to try and stuff some 205/40/17's under it. I have wheel spacers as well so hopefully it will work out. Going for a wheel alignment tomorrow, I hope that solves my camber issues. The insides of my tires are eaten away.

sure you can do it with a 16in. wheel, but he's talking about putting on 17's. it will not work. that tire will be too tall and WILL rub his struts.
