well my car just started making this noise after i got it back from the tranny swap... after I start it up, for like a minute, i can hear a kind of squealing sound at low rpms.... goes away if you rev it but then comes back as the revs drop. is this the tensioner squeal that i hear about so often? is this detrimental to the motor? or is it just annoying. oh, and it isnt starter squeal, the starter is a 2 month old nissan unit

Well just because it's new doesn't mean it shouldn't squeal - kind of like start-up clatter; my brand new 98 did it from the first day had the car.

But it's probably not that since you can hear it after the car is started up.
