My friend has an ae86 and now wants one of my spare motors to put in it. What is involved in this swap. What all will he need and is it worth it? How much will it cost.. and how do you run the motor?... Standalone?

ehhh.. I would think motor mounts. tranny mounts, driveshaft are custom. I don;t think you would need stand alone as long as you use the SR ECU. but you will need aftermarket gauges unless you want to rewire the AE to be able to read off the NIssan Sensors. I have no Idea how much it will cost. its possible. just how much money does he have, and who is gonna do the work. everithing is possible with skill/money. I;ve seen VQ35's in S14's so why not SR20's in corolas. I;ve already seen the rotary motors in em. so yeah. it's possible. but like I said I canot emphesise *** tit will be alot of work. ALOT :biggthump

I'm sure most people already know that as they have all watched Initial D or something to that effect...

Anyways, the SR20DET is pretty much self contained, so as long as your friend or whoever knows how to tap into the power source for the ignitor chip, then he should be OK.

The ECU and fuel pump both get their power via relays, and the ECU controls the fuel pump, so as long as the system is retained, or another system deviced, it will work.

Only wire I think you would need from the Corolla chassis itself might be the ignition switch wires. However, if you buy a start button like the one used on the S2000, then you should be OK :biggthump
