first off my motor is a rwd blacktop sr20det...i just got it rebuilt everything back to stock, new rings, bearings the whole deal...but before the rebuild i put new lifters in it, and i got them from the nissan dealership for a 1991 nissan sentra se-r...and now i got about 500 miles on the rebuild and i got a knocking noise...wtf....could it be the lifters, because the top of the lifter where the oil comes out is alot smaller on the se-r lifters than the stock lifters that came in the motor.... or would this even make a differance at all?? should i put the stock ones back in or what should i do...any help would be great...

why didnt you just get sr20det lifters?
I would get the right lifters for the det or put the stockers in temporarily
that could be the problem, it could rod knock, lifter tick, injectors clicking lol

nothing like injectors clicking.....no possible way a rod could be knocking since it was just rebuilt...and i was told that the 91 se-r lifters was the same..

i've seen rods knock in freshly rebuilt engines. some blocks seem to have ghosts (especially in the #3 rod). or it could be the fact that many "engine builders" don't seem to want to take the time to plastigauge anything. is it more pronounced when you rev it or does it seem to smooth out? does it do it in idle? if it is the lifters, make sure they're shimmed correctly. if they are and it still makes noise...get DET lifters.

sounds like a rod or main knocking. i've seen sr's last a few months knocking. however, it's gonna have to come out eventually and be rebuilt.
