Two options
1. Push really hard and rotate
2. If your sure its started ok, put a board on the end and smack it with a hammer.

Try to grease the C clips and splines up. This usually works. If not, use a rubber mallet and beat the thing in. Make sure you have the axle straight though, so you don't mess the CV joint up. I've used both methods.

What about that bar in the middle of the trans does that matter?

I'll be doing the same thing tomorrow night on the dr side. It should just slide in. I hope I don't run into this :o)

Position yourself so you can grab the axle closest to the tranny with both hands. Push in the axle until there is a little resistance. Then back it out a little and try to ram it in using a quick motion. Also it helps to slowly rotate the tranny (turn the other axle/wheel) to help the splines line up.

Also, when the axle is in a little, you can actually *feel* when it is lined up as you are turning the tranny.

This method always worked for me and I didn't have to do any special tricks with lining up the c-clip, etc, etc.
