ok i'm looking to make a 275-300whp steet machine B13. I know i'll need a B15 tranny to get to these goals i was just wondering what would be cheaper and or more relable a SR20DE with forged internals or a SR20DET?

For my plan i'm thinking a FMIC, 3inch catback either S15 T28 or a Discopotato

How many miles on the de? Why would you need forged internals?

you dont need a B15 tranny for that power. if your motor compression tests good, just turbo it.

^^^^^^ yeah what he said. I was making that with a stock motor, stock maf, stock ECU, Stock tranny, upgraded 4 puck clutch, stock pressure plate, Walbro 255lph HP pump, 370cc injectors SAFC and 14lbs on a T3/TO4E 2.5" downpipe, 2.25" exaust piping from the cat back, gutted cat. It's so easy to make that on a stock motor dude.... Really. If you wanna pull the motor apart that bad just give it a regular rebuild and use a Cometic head gasket. Good luck :biggthump

becuase i want this power to last and it will be my daily driver. which is why i was thinking DET and B13 trannys wont last very long at 300whp from what i hear:confused:

If you wanto drive it like you stole it I suggest going with a stronger tranny.

FYI my setup lasted 1.5+ years and was still going on strong but I took everthing out and junked the car because of all the rust. Trust me I beat the snot outta that motor too cause I wanted to put this so called bulletproof motor to the test.

If this is going to be a daily driver, you can either get the stronger tranny or just avoid 3rd gear (which is what i do). You're correct in that the stock tranny WILL shread 3rd gear at some point; some people have had their trannies last, some people are on tranny #5. Things that help prevent tranny destruction: stiff motor mounts to minimize engine movement, control arm bushings and brace to minimize control arm movement. the softest/least aggressive clutch you can use that'll hold the power you want. You can also get the gears cryo treated..... but it's a bit of a hassale.

The DE won't even break a sweat at 275-300whp; I would suggust the GT28RS turbo for those power levels as it's right in it's comfort zone at those power levels. A regular t28 will make that power, but it will be straining. If you're content with 260-280whp, stick with the t28 to save money.

put gtir pistons and rods into a DE that is sooo cheap and can handle some serious power.
