How much validity is there in saying our cars can come with Nismo parts? I've heard the AD22's and the raiator are Nismo, and some other misc. parts. Well........?

Our radiator is the same size as the NISMO radiator. But the NISMO radiator has a different fin design.

The AD22VF brakes are OEM, not NISMO.

the nismo radiator is only like 18% more efficient.. do you guys think its worth gettinit on an nx??

Only 18% more effecient?
That's quite a bit of difference!

It could be a very wise investment if you often attend track events. The cooling system in our cars is something left to be desired. The water pump tends to cavitate over 6500rpm, and in the NX's case, the airdam opening is the smallest of the SR20-powered cars.

For me, I have to have the heater on full blast whenever I'm out on the track. Water temps never go above 220deg F. Though with the heater off, I've seen it go up to 240deg. Hopefully, some underdrive pulleys and a cooling system flush will help remedy the situation, or else I'm going to have to go with some crazy custom Griffin radiator.

I got a direct-fit all aluminum KOYO radiator for my NX. Awesome but around $375 from www.absoluteradiator.com.

Which is almost the same price as the OEM radiator.

Here's a couple of tricks that can help.
The next time you flush your radiator, use Redline's Water Wetter.
Water Wetter act as a heat transfer agent, which can help your radiator keep the motor cool. Water Wetter's effectivness has been proven by Mike Kojima (http://www.sr20de.net/car_info/engine_performance_tuning.html)

Also, you can use the radiator cap from a '93 TTZ. The TTZ radiator cap has a higher opening pressure. This helps cooling by raising the boiling point of the coolant.

Here's the P/N for the Pulsar GTi-R radiator:

I am using Water Wetter right now (with about 75/25 water/coolant mix). I'm also using a high pressure radiator cap (Nismo). I probably still have air bubbles trapped inside the cooling system somewhere. I'll have to flush it out again, anyway, as per the SE-R Cup/NASA CCR rules, I am not allowed to have any coolant in the system; just water and water wetter. The car has never overheated on the track, though the first time I took the NX to the track (SERCA Track day #1) the temp gauge started creeping up to H towards the end of my first 30-minute session... It didn't happen again after I started using the heater.

Interestingly enough, my 200SX never had overheating problems on the track. It still has the stock dinky radiator and radiator cap with the coolant mix from the day it left the dealership. I never used the heater and the car has underdrive pulleys.

Well, I don't have any specifics on the GTi-R radiator but the KOYO is very big. My guess is this would be the best. Here's an old quote from Jay Hassinger from SE-R.net about the KOYO:

"Well Craig got his radiator in from KOYO and all I can said is
"Fluidyne...who?"

Richard petty would be jealous of this thing...LOL

Seriously, it's such a nice piece and while I don't have the NISMO specs I
have a feeling this thing is a lot bigger, and higher quality. To quote
Craig "I have a woody right now".

Dimensions are:

Length 26 1/4,

Height 15 1/2,

Thickness a wopping 2 1/2 inches!"

It's not just size, but the fin design.

Also, another trick that I'm using is to have another electric fan wired up to the main OE fan, to help push more air through the radiator.

i was reading somewhere that the koyo inlets/oulet are smaller than the oe nissan ones... so you have to get adapters and crap.... what do u guys think of that?? also downpipe clearence issues... on a turbo application... unless you have an fmax stage 4 manifold....(dont we all wish)... any ideas tips suggestions...?

2 questions:

-Is the OE NX radiator larger than the OE B13 SE-R radiator?
- If so, will it slip right into my SE-R?

Yes and yes. Keep in mind, only some NXen had larger (thicker) radiators. I've seen some NXen that had the same size radiator as the SE-R. Just to make things clear, the radiator you want is about 1" thick.

I think that any NX owner who wants a better radiator might want to consider the GTi-R radiator.

Or the P10 automatic radiator...;) I think that one is the biggest capicity of any SR20 radiator in the US...

Does it fit?
If yes, how much for the radiator?

I just recieved my KOYO all aluminum the other day and for the woody comment guy....he was being modest. This is a dam nice piece! :D Screw fluidyne...and they didnt even bother to make one for our cars...the koyo one is a direct fit and cost less.

-Smaller inlet and outlet?? They look fine to me, and if they are a bit smaller just clamp down the hose a little tighter, no prob.

contact Jason at that above link or call and ask for him if anyone else is interested....1 888 252 0333...
he was real helpfull and answered all my questions, real courteous the entire time, before and after I got it. he knows how to treat customers and he'll most likely work with you on a price deal.
