So has anyone else had any problems w/ the PRI CAI install.
The kit was nice and complete w/ decent instructions, needed to add an inch or two to one vacuum line, that's it for additional parts (well zip ties of course). The BIG problem was that the holes in the tube adaptor (airbox side of MAF using the stock four screws) were a little too far in! Instead of cutting the hole by the battery i spent way too much time extending the holes in the MAF in to mate up to the adaptor. As a result i had to cut it short and ended up w/ a WAI. This put me at 1am and i had to be at AutoX school be 9am. NUTS. I checked my receipt, said i ordered the right part. Whats up?
BTW, i did have one more problem. I had pulled the plug wires cause i pulled the valve cover lookin fer clues to my clackin valvetrain. When i put everything back i switched wires for 2&4. OOPs, gave me a good scare when i first fired it up, would barely run. Stall if ya got off the gas. I heard a long time ago, "Runs bad? Almost allways the ignition."
Now, SOTP was the only performance gauge i had. Honestly i don't know, my butt dyno is a little off, maybe a little more to the top end? Really need to complete the install and put that filter out of the engine bay.
Also, i noticed that the stock airbox had a velocity stack, so does a JTW POP or a $tillen, so do i need to add that to the PRI unit as well to maximize the gains?
One thing is for sure, sounds 'bout the same at idle or pokin along w/ traffic, but LOVE the sound at WOT, 3000rpm and up. That alone is almost worth the price (at least the WAI portion).
I gotta open up my exhaust a bit. :p

You bought a CAI? When did this happen? Are we goin' back to APG to get it dynoed? :D Maybe I could stop by and figure out what the problem is. Then we can race and find out if that WAI/CAI is up to the challenge ;)

Thanx for the offer Steve. I ordered bout three weeks ago when i realized that i have been putting off a new stock filter for too long. I wanted to upgrade to K&N but figured what the hell, why do this is stages, just get the best (maybe 2nd, the AEM might have fit first time). I can finish it no problem, just gotta find the time. Somewhen, i also have all the stuff for the ADV22 brake upgrade w/ Metal Master pads frANDrr. Again i am close to needing new brakes so why not do it up right.
Either way i'm goin to the picnic Sat, so you can check it out then. As for dyno testin, i'll wait till after i get an exhaust as well. Before any more of you gimme grief for that tiny tailpipe.

UPDATE
BTW i just looked at the PRI MAF adapter part on my car. It's stamped CAI04AGN. Their directions that came w/ show two installs. 98+ SE-R part# CAI04AGN, and 95-97 SE-R CAI03AGN. Following their convention shouldn't my high-port classic be CAI01AGN? HMMMM.

Paul,

PR just mailed me their caterlog. Here are the applications:
CAI01AG 91-93 SE-R Low port
CAI02AG 93-94 SE-R High port
CAI03AG 95-97 200SX or Sentra SE
CAI04AG 98-99 200SX or Sentra SE
CAI05AG 00-01 SE

If yours a classic, you shouldn't have the CAI04AG. Give them a call and figure it out.

That would explain my difficulties. I'm really not in the mood to take that stuff off to ship it back. Specially after i've already modified the MAF to fit.

Paul,

I might be able to help. I have a PRI CAI on my NX2K. Let me know if you need my help. Steve and I can go together to help you out.

Steve (I know it's another Steve)

Cool. Like i said earlier i don’t think i should have any more problems. If my RotoZip or haksaw can’t cut the hole for the tube to the wheel well, i might need some help. I am actually happy for the moment, LOVE the sound. I will be able to check out if the rest of the kit is correct or not at the picnic Sat. (I’ll just throw the rest in my trunk). If anything, i NEED to finish before next Sat. (the 27th) as that will be my first competitive AutoX w/ the Bimmerheads.
