My car: 2000 SE, AT(no snickering!) :) , with CAI, Timing @ 17, midpipe. Replaced plugs(gapped to spec), wires, cap, rotor about 9 months ago.

My problem: irregular idle when stopped or stop and go traffic, and SES light. I have noticed my car's idle rpm has been fluctuating between 750 and 500 rpm when parked, stopped, or just creeping forward(in bad traffic). When it drops to 500 rpm the car shutters almost like it just about died, then returns to 750 for about 30 seconds, then drops again. If you try to gently accelerate right when it has dropped below 750 the car stutters for just a bit until you build the rpms up.

Also, I have gotten two SES lights recently. The first came when I was sitting in the parking lot letting the AC run while killing a little time before work. The parking spot was on an incline so the driver's side of the car was sitting higher than the passenger side. Got the code read: P0172 - "System too rich." Left the battery disconnected overnight, and the code didn't come back...until this morning(a good 3 weeks later). I wanted to test the parking on the slant again, leaving the car running for about 5 minutes. Guess who came back? The SES light. Once again the driver side was higher than the passenger side.

As for potential culprits, I think it's fuel related. The first time I got the light I thought maybe the front 02 was gone. Since the light didn't come back soon after resetting the ecu, I think I can rule this out. I don't think MAF because the car drives fine for the most part, unless you catch it right when the rpms drop, in which case you will get a small stutter on acceleration. No limp mode issues.

What do you think?

check maf voltage, fuel pressure to start, could be press regulator, could be fuel pump dying

Thanks, I won't be able to mess with the car for about a week, but I'll look into those when I do.
