: Best DET upgrades
ITR_KILLR 04-17-2002, 12:16 AM I've got a BB DET w/ sr20dev. downpipe, upgraded t25, JWT ECU
and the basic stuff. Besides a FMIC and 3" exhaust, what else should I do for more power. I plan on adding a JUN ultra-lightweight flywheel and a new clutch soon. I want to keep the T25 for now, but i want 12+ PSI. what all do i need? (cobra MAF, fuel pump, etc?)
also, what psi is maxing out the T25?
ITR_KILLR 04-19-2002, 12:59 AM any suggestions would be appreciated
Big John 04-19-2002, 02:14 AM I think 12 psi is about the limit I would push a T-25. I would consider a set of cams and pullies after the FMIC and 3" exhaust. Just my thoughts. Upgrading the fuel and MAF is not going to increase the performance of the turbo. if you are not going to upgrade the turbo along with it, the money could be spent in other power gaining modifications.

ITR_KILLR 04-19-2002, 10:41 AM what other turbos will bolt up to the stock BB manifold?
2wdBlazer 04-19-2002, 11:15 AM I would purchase a T-28 from I believe Louis for $600 and something. Get a Pulsar manifold for $250 and just sell your T-25 set up. Much more power this way. Pretty inexpensive too.
AntonioG 04-19-2002, 12:04 PM I believe Rob Cadle has said that the most you should run a T25 is 14psi, but with no cat. I wouldn't do that all the time though. 12-14psi on the T25 is nearly maxing out your injectors and MAF depending on your other mods. If you step up to the T28 w/ GTi-R manifold, I would recommend stepping up to 50lb/hr injectors and MAF also.
I'm with NismoDriver - I'm throwing some S4s w/ cam gears in a while on my BB DET. I love the responsiveness of the T25 too much. ;)
ITR_KILLR 04-22-2002, 08:26 PM so can I run 10psi on the T25 with just a front mount and 3" pretty safely? If I do go with a T28 setup and upgrade to 50LB/HR injectors and a cobra maf should I get the 4Bar program too or is that overkill? thanx for the help

Yes, you can run up to 11.75 psi on the T25 safely, but you don't want to run this daily. You should only run stock BB DET boost which is around 7 psi while driving around town and then run the 10-11.75 psi at the track. If you run high boost everyday then the T25 will not last long.
I have stock BB DET injectors, MAF and a stock fuel pump and can run 11.75 psi (.8 bar) at the track, but this is the *absolute limit* for safety for this setup. If you want to run a T28 w/ 12+ psi then the fuel pump needs to be upgraded and probably the injectors and MAF as well.
I'm not sure about the 4Bar program since I have no experience with it.
Good Luck

10 psi on the t25 should be fine. But, the stock boost setting is perfect for the street so I would just run that all the time. No sense is stressing the turbo when you don't have to.
With the t28 setup, going for the 4bar program is overkill. IIRC, the 3 bar setup with 50lb/hr injectors and Cobra MAF top out at 320hp or so, which is more power than the t28 turbo can provide, so you'll have plenty of injector headroom. You might want to do a search to double check on that number though.
ITR_KILLR 04-25-2002, 11:32 AM i want about 300whp. so my best bet will be to go with a t28, 3Bar, and maf. what kind of psi am i looking at for 300?
92SE-R 04-25-2002, 01:07 PM No. The T28 won't get you to 300 whp unless you are pushing the turbo. The T3/T4 will.

Well, the T28 can make 300+ whp. You will have to boost it up to 17-18 psi, but it can and has been done. As long as you have the Cobra MAF, 50 lb/hr injectors, FMIC, and cams, you can make that power!
92SE-R 04-25-2002, 09:11 PM Isn't 17-18 psi really pushing the turbo though?
