Wife, my car, curb, busted tire, warped rim, bent tie-rod: a long story made short. After I install the tie-rod end, will I be able to get the alignment close enough to keep me out of the alignment shop, and still not ruin my new Azeni's? What else do I need to check before my next auto-X? Control arm? Anything special I need to know about changing a tie-rod?

You're gonna want to align the car after replacing the tie-rod. Unless you have the tools and ability to align the car yourself you won't be able to stay out of the shop and not ruin your tires.

It's extremely likely you have a bent control arm. I hit a curb (slid on ice) at about 10 mph and bent the control arm.

Have fun. I just replaced a very mangaled(sp?) control arm with Peanuthead over the weekend. There is a nice trick to getting the tie rod lose without a puller. Loosen the nut and then put a small wrench between the top of the nut and the bottom of the driveshaft/halfshaft. Keep loosing the nut until it pushes on the wrench and the ball joint will poop right off.

The control arm looks OK, I mean, I cant see any real creases or bends or anything. It doesn't look much different than the one on the drivers side. I noticed my ball joints bushings look busted on both sides (not curb related). Should I go ahead and replace them? What else should I do (that won't cost an arm and leg) while I've got my car up on jackstands with the suspension partially torn apart, waiting on my replacement wheel to arrive?

assuming that you want to be 100% sure and safe... i would say your strut assembly, hub and maybe your knuckle assembly (including wheel bearings) and maybe the rear disc but possibly not.... good luck
