Well ladies and gentlemen, here are the pics of the CAI in the car (about time, forum keeps taking me to www.sea-chg.com  )

a peek at the filter.

Once again....$25 for the second half of the cai is not that bad at all.

I had those for a while, came with my wai. Try going to napa auto parts and getting some 3" hosing.

Sweet!!!!!
I might just hit up my boys muffler shop.
Damn MAF. It would look sweet if it were all piping all the way to the damn TB.
Looks good enough.

Serban, what exactly did you use to cut the opening bigger for the intake piping (hole next to the battery). I'm thinking about getting rid of my Stillen WAI and getting a HS or AEM CAI. I'm no longer really concerned about Hydrolock. First, because it never rains in NJ anymore. Second, I've come to realize the likelihood of it happening even when it does rain is really slim. TIA.

Edit: Wow, AEM has dyno charts up at their site now. Here's the one for the 91-93 SE-R CAI. 9.2 WHP and 11.2 lb-ft Torque gain! Holy shit. Do you think they're full of it?

I had that hole enlarged with a jig saw. I went to my mechanic and he only charged me $10. I then got some door edge molding and put it around the edge of the hole, and battery tray (piece of the tray was also cut). I did that just so if the pipe were to move around it wouldnt make a clunk every time.

Alright, cool. Thanks a lot. Anyone else use any other methods? Just trying to get a variety of ideas.

BTW, Serban, the fabricated CAI looks really good. Nice idea.

Yeah use an 18volt drill and drill alot of holes making a circle pattern. Then punch it out. Worked for me. :D

hmm, the baseline numbers look kind of low for a bone stock classic in a good state of tune. call me a skeptic, but i think there's more to these numbers than meets the eye ;-)
time for a cai shootout?

Yeah, I noticed that too. I don't believe those gains, to be honest.

yea i did all the methods out there to enlarge my fender hole
i first drilled holes in a circle, then i punched it out, and it needed more room, so i bent the metal back.
than a few weeks later i got a dremel and fixed it up and put the door edge molding on it
the door edge molding was a bitch to get on, but its there for good, it has a bead of glue on the inside, and stuck on really well, it looks perfect now

Looks like we can add this to the "cheap mods" category -

advanced timing, open airbox, MAF rotation, throttle cable adjustment, and now the Serban-CAI....

You can try this tool (http://www.mscdirect.com/mscProductSearch.process?RestartFlow=t&RowsPerPage=15&searchmanufpartno=&dispmanufpartno=&operator=AND&QuickFlag=1&Merchant_Id=1&query=06642912&search_cat=K&x=8&y=14) Its a sheet metal nibbler. Basically a three jaw tool where the middle jaw comes up between the out side two. Ive used these before in a machine shop. I just dont know if it will be strong enough to handle the steel. For $34 its worth a shot.

BTW, a very nice CAI there...
