For any of you guys who have wired a tach or shift lite can you tell me which wire coming off the distributor is the tach wire?

Looking at my manual the green wire and the black/red wire both come off the ignition coil and should have done the trick but I can't get either of them to work.

I need to trip my MSD trigger for the VVL cams in my SR20VE but I have yet to get them to work. I'm trying to determine if I have the wrong wire or if I wired the trigger wrong. TIA

Chuck,

The black/red wire is +12V ignition. The green/yellow wire is the pulsed ground from the igniter/power transistor. It is this wire that you are looking for.

Alright, that didn't work. I don't have a green / yellow.

I have 8 wires
1. solid green
2. solid black
3. solid black
4. white / red stripe
5. white / black stripe
6. black / red stripe
7. black / white stripe
8. blue

According to my Haynes manual solid green and black/red both come off the ignition coil and I have tried both but neither worked.

Someone please help!!

Alright I found it. It's the blue wire just in case anybody else needs to know.
