Here are the details. And I am going to explain why I did not just mask the outside of it off..

As you know I am broke (maybe not) and want to spruce up the interior of my NX.
So I decided to do the HVAC covers, the ashtray, glovebox, the insturment cluster and the door trims in meduim silver. All those pieces you can figure out on your own how to remove. The doorhandles I thought were going to be easy, but turned out to look sloppy when it was done. So I had to do some dissecting.
To remove them all you have to do is take the phillips screw out the middle, slide it foward http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0250.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4971) and take out the lock and opening rods. You cannot confuse the two and it is clear which will be top and which will be bottom.

For easier access remove the retainer to make the rods move freely:

These are the tools you need to prepare the surfaces (this goes for all the interior pieces)

Clean the pieces you want to color with whatever you choose(Brillo, SOS, sandpaper) and rinse:
http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0205.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4917)http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0206.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4918)

You can either air dry them or be inpatient like me and use the wifes blowdryer.. :biggthump
http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0208.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4919)
Once dry you could try to tape them up....http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0213.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4923)http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0214.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4924)
Then spray. These are the things you need fro prep and paint:
Adhesive promoter and Color:

Light coats, be paitent so it does not run.

When I took the masking tape off I realized the clearences were too tight and when the handles were released it (the paint) did not cover all of it. I hate sloppy work   so I looked to see it they could be taken apart.

Sure nuff they could :biggthump -

You can see a pin that can be knocked out of the handle-

Knock the pin out gently, studying how the spring is supposed to be seated or just do one handle at a time so you can see how it is supposed to sit:
http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0238.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4967)http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0236.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4965)

Here, the handles are seperated:

You can see the paint I was talking about that did not spread well:
http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/IMG_0233_1.JPG (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4962)

After some rubbing down to smoothen the old paint out (the SOS pads) and respraying here are the results-
http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0246.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4969)http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0256.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4974)http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0257.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4975)http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0258.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4976)http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/data/600/thumbs/Img_0260.jpg (http://www.sr20forum.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=4977)

And all is well is Smurfland:

^^
Yeah, I seriously thought of the bright silver, seriously. I just started out with the medium silver and stuck with it because the clear will not make it look dull when used in multiple layers.
