I'd suggest getting a better coil, you can test the wires for resistance as well. I would suggest Taylor wires, they have excellent construction and are good enough to carry the current required by a 2000+ BHP methanol blower motor. Distributor ignitions are so easily upgraded. You might also try running a full 12v signal to the coil. You should have no issues anywhere below 12psi or so. I run NGK plats, heat range 7 and have them gapped at 0.038 and no misfires at 12 psi. It's very possible, as already suggested, that the other ignition components are worn out.
