Okay heres the deal....my car has been swapped from 1.6 to det and i finally got it idlein good and ready for the road but it wont go into gear....My eclipse took a dump and the tranny blew on it, so now im forced to get this car up and running....i have to have it up and running by monday or i lose my JOB!. (being that i drive daily for my job) So the symptons are the shifter will go in gear while the clutch is not being pressed, if you push the clutch in and try to go in gear it wont go either bu if you put it in first withou the clutch being pressed in and then press it in it will jump!?!?!? i have no lcue whats going on and runnning out of time...i am willing to pay money for someone to help.....please help a fellow member keep his job and get his 200 running!!!!!

Check the clutch cable, make sure its tight enough, and its pulling the clutch arm. How about the clutch that went in the car, is it any good?

yes it was a brand new kit bought from clutch city online in largo, fl. Didnt know about gofastdepot at the time.. ****** i bought it january im finally getting to move the car now and it wont go...

It wierd becuase everyone laughs when i say i can put it in gear while the motor runs and not press the clutch but when i do press the clutch while its in the gear it jumps??!!?

i bought the clutch cable from fred it was in decent shape...could of got streched but i have 2 brass reducers in there to compensate if it was... is there a such thing as over adjusting???too far as suppose to too little?


edit : going right now to by a new clutch cable...im gonna get the 2.0 first and use the reducers...

what shift linkage are you using?

1.6 linkage...other people have done the swap and used the 1.6


although its kinda of hard to get it in 2 4 and reverse...with the car off

bro... you have to find someone parting out se-r an buy the linkage..... it may look like the 1.6 is working but from what your saying.. naw man... just get the 2.0 linkage. the cable really has nothing to do with it .. something there doesnt sound right.

well the same thing happened to me. that i would put the shifter into gear with out having to press in the clutch, and the car was running, well my mechanic told me it was either two things the clutch or the tranny, i changed the clutch and it worked. that was maybe a week ago, and my cable clutch just broke yesterday. when a cable clutch brakes usualy it doesnt let you put the shifter into gear, even if you press on the clutch. thats all i can tell you. good luck

well i was doing some adjusments and slakced off the tension and it would no longer go in gear while the car was running....but still wont go in gear while the clutch is pressed....although while i had it pressed agaisnt third gear and slowly let off the clutch is popped in third and i was able to move it......swhats that all about...does this clutch cable have to be exactly right to work....???

well ive been trying to install my cable clutch and its still not letting me put it into gear. U12BBDreamer06 how was it that you were able to fix your problem. ive been messing around with the adjustment thingy and still nothing.

hold it firmly in third position while pressing in the clutch, it should pop in...then you will know how much more you need to adjust...mine still ify, they also say a new clutch doesnt have much adjuments untill it wears in.
