2 identical stock VE’s
1 making 20HP odd more than the other
Same day same dyno
did compression tests on both engines and found there is a .5kpa difference between the 2 engines
Now could .5kpa make that big difference in power on identical engine setups?
Also what should the compression be on a healthy VE ?

Igntion timing was most likely mildly different due to naked eye rotating the dizzy to set the timing. Amazing how much it can vary ;)
Also, not sure if you have it where you are but try 'Morey's Upper Cylinder Lubricant' and make sure there is no carbon buildup insde the motor affecting you compression readings :D

timing light dont lie both set to 15

less than 1 psi your talking about per cyl.
I really doubt that is any problem....both of them have the SAME ecu and intake, header etc etc.?
A healthy VE should be around 220psi (1516 kpa)
and no less than 200psi (1378 kpa)

we swapped ecu's on the day no change
header , intake etc same
sorry my bad its 50kpa difference between the 2 ve's
not .5 :D
1400 versus 1450

what rpm do each cars have the cams activating? some cars just make more power then others. no real reason for it.

There's no such thing as identical engines. One probably has better ring seal and camshaft timing.

Timing lights don't lie but the angle your looking at the pulley when setting the timing can vary. It alters the pin in relation to the timing light/pulley and alters your ignition timing.

Timming light might not be right if the pully is bad.

why not just buy a SR20VE?
