i'm finally going to change the oil in my classic. I was just wondering, because this is the first time i've ever changed any oil, what kind of filter i should use, or any recomendations on any brands. Also, does it matter what kind of filter to use if I'm going to use Royal Purple???

and if possible can someone please help me out with some important tips about changing the oil so i wont mess up(like how much oil to put on the filter), sorry for not being so mechanically inclined.

:D BTW, I had a really great time at the Rally on Saturday, and am glad I got to talk to many other sr20 owners in person. Can't wait til the next Rally.

Here's an old thread about oil filters:

OEM is a good value if you buy in bulk from a place that gives discounts. Wix is also good on the cheap end. If you're already shelling out for Royal Purple, Mobil1 and K&N make pricey, but great filters.

Oil changes are easy business. The filter is a pain to remove, but the rest is simple.

be very careful with royal purple the stuff that they sell is a synthetic blend. You have to seriously ask for the full synthetic. check their website and find out which one you have.

btw use a pure one filter

Unless your made of money use the Nissan OEM filter. Don't get a cheap filter. Buy a haynes manual to help with maintence issues. If you get serious about working on your car get a Factor Service Manual. I like Mobil 1 sythetic. A little while ago there was a thread asking what oil people use. Most said Mobil 1. Whatever you chose stick with the same oil every time. BTW I damaged my Datsun 510 engine because of the cheap filter. Don't save money on filters.
